Error code: 1:86001S:66003S:-891751198O:0B

I am sometimes able to play BF2042 for limited windows. But then it will drop the game and the internet for my house/PC at random. Sometimes I will be 30 secs into a game and then I get crazy ping/ms and then it drops again. Or it refuses to even open the game/EA App at other times...which again crashes the game and internet.
I have raised this issue with the "EA Help Chat" and all they said is that other people have this same problem and that they are "working on it". With no actual solution offered.

^From my
research...in
the first link a player was able to get a fix by finding out that the issue seems to stem with syncing the player's friends lists from EA (with maybe Steam's potentially). In the second link (given in a post in the first link), a player was able to get this issue fixed by EA doing some background work to his account (from back in 2021). I raised these to the EA Help Chat person too and they said they could not open the links and that "the issue had been raised" which was no help again.
I asked if this issue seems to only effect those players who have bought the game through Steam and are connecting it through to the EA App and the rep confirmed, "yes". So until enough people raise/report this issue on the EA forums then it will never be resolved...as it seems to have been a continuous occurrences for players since 2021 when EA removed Origin and replaced it with the EA App.
Please go and report this issue through promoting the first link I gave or by making more forum posting referencing this error code and EA App issue. Only together through collective action will the "wonderful" folks at EA actually care to fix this...

Seems like we're facing the same error code, except on my end, the game wont even get to the start menu. Hits me with a "connection timeout" and the respective error code mentioned as your discussion title. This practically makes the game unplayable.
I've already contacted support twice, shared the same links, and received the same useless answers "the team has been notified and will handle it"
Any updates on your end? I'm personally thinking of refunding and using the funds on something i can actually play . . .

I solved this problem on Windows 11; most people couldn't launch the game due to a signing error.
I solved the Secure Boot error and Battlefield 2042 boot problem I encountered while using Windows 11 on my Steam Deck. Many users encounter this error because they skip signing the boot file.
Step-by-step instructions:
1. Download the file: Steam Deck Secure Boot (Deck SB) – yes. Go and download the necessary ISO file.
2. Prepare the USB: Open Rufus software. Insert a USB flash drive. Select the ISO, set the Partition Format to GPT and the File System to NTFS.
3. Critical Point: When the writing process begins, select the "Burn in DD Mirror mode" option in the warning message.
4. Enter the BIOS: With the device off, press and hold the Volume Down (-) key and press the ... (Quick Access) keys, then press the Power button once. 5. Setup Settings: First, select the Enable Secure Boot option. Then, click on the Enregister Deck SB EFI option and confirm.
6. File Signing: When the signing tool opens, sign the following two files in order:
- Option 4: Windows bootmgfw (Master bootmaster) -> Select and confirm.
- Option 5: Windows bootmgr -> Select and confirm.
7. Restart: Complete the process by selecting option 8 (Restart) from the main menu.
After these steps, your game should open without any problems.

# Steam Deck Windows 11 - Battlefield 2042 Secure Boot Error Definitive Fix
**ATTENTION - THE MOST COMMON MISTAKE:** The root cause of this launch failure is skipping the "Boot File Signing" step. If you do not perform the signing process in Step 6, the game will not launch under any circumstances, and you will continue to get the Secure Boot error. Follow the steps below completely for a flawless launch.
### Step-by-Step Installation Guide:
1. Download the File: Download the required ISO file named "Steam Deck Secure Boot (Deck SB) – yes" to your computer.
2. Prepare the USB: Open Rufus software and insert a USB flash drive. Select the downloaded ISO file. Set the Partition Scheme to GPT and the File System to NTFS.
3. Critical Burning Point: When Rufus begins the writing process, you must select the "Burn in DD Mirror mode" option in the pop-up warning message.
4. Enter the BIOS: With the Steam Deck completely turned off, press and hold the Volume Down (-) and ... (Quick Access) buttons. While holding them, press the Power button once.
5. Setup Settings: Once the BIOS screen opens, first select the "Enable Secure Boot" option. Then, click on the "Enregister Deck SB EFI" option and confirm.
6. Critical Step (File Signing): When the signing tool opens, you must sign the following two files in the exact order:
* Option 4: Windows bootmgfw (Master bootmaster) -> Select and confirm.
* Option 5: Windows bootmgr -> Select and confirm.
7. Restart: Complete the process by selecting Option 8 (Restart) from the main menu to reboot your device.
Once you complete these steps in order without skipping the signing part, Battlefield 2042 and other Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) protected games will launch smoothly on Windows 11.

I have tried all iterations of Proton, SteamOS and all the settings etc. But not having an RTX level GPU, I don't think it is going to start. I have 2 gaming laptops. Both RTX 3070 and 4070), but an i7 Surface Book 2, with GTX 1060, it just won't go past the informations screens after you go to 'start'.
