Why is the game disconnecting me from my internet?

Yatom123 · 4 Feb 2024 at 18:47 · permalink

Why is it that, about 70% of the time when I am trying to start up my first match that the game disconnects me from my wifi(Still connected to WIFI but showing "no internet connection)? The only way to reset it is for me to restart my entire computer and JUST MAYBE it will work after that. I've restarted my computer three times now and this is the most it has done it to me. I get my internet connection back if I connect to a different WIFI and then reconnect to my own. If there's a fix I'd be curious as to what it is.
On the same note, it's stupid that I even have to deal with this. No other game does this to me. Never paying full price for an EA game again.

That has to do with your router/ISP. Maybe the game's internet load has something to do with it though, especially if this is the only game you own that does it.
You may need to check on your router(reset), but as always I recommend Ethernet if it is available to you. Beyond that I'm not sure; Check on internet plan and compare with how many people are using the wifi at once, sometimes they'll crap out when too much bandwidth is used.
If your wifi is still connected(w/ internet) and the game doesn't connect, that's been haunting the game since its release. Will usually not happen now though.

Yeah sounds like an ISP related issue.
Still, rather than rebooting the entire computer, have you tried simply rebooting your wifi adapter via your Device Manager (right click your wifi adapter, select disable, then enable)?

Did you get a solution?

found fix, but kind of annoying
everytime you launch battlefield, once the javelin anticheat menu pops up turn off your internet, and then once the game fully loads turn your internet back on
worked for me, but let me know if it doesn't work

too bad the dev team doesn't have the brainpower to fix their ♥♥♥♥ anticheat so you don't have to do this

Has anyone found a solution to this? Happenning to me as well in EA app. As soon as i enter the game, the wifi disconnects, and if i close the game immediately, the wifi restores back. But if i wait for more than a min, then i have to restart the entire system.

DONT listen to the other guys it has to do with your NETWORK CARD
Switch from WLAN to LAN or LAN to WLAN it seems BF2042 has issues with BROADCOM devices

here is a potential fix at the official BF2042 Technical Forums:
https://forums.ea.com/discussions/battlefield-2042-technical-issues-en/game-crashes-wifi-turned-off/13206414
it is likely as EA's Javelin Anti-Cheat is causing some issues with network drivers and/or settings, especially while editing settings in-game, to return to main menu, in which these settings then be filtered by Javelin before being uploaded to the cloud, then causes a network crash . . . prolly same if being in-game and crashes network when stats are being updated and uploaded
p.s.:
a mod could merge all same threads together
