mp vs ai only

in an ai only 128 match my game is smooth as butter. Stable frametime and stable high fps. Looks good.
However, when I play even a 32v32 match in multiplayer, it suddenly looks very bad,
irritating to look at. It's not smooth. Same with the input. However the fps and frametime r the same. Stable and high. What is wrong with this game
