locked out of using mouse and keyboard?

bought the game on sale since i remember playing the first campaign mission awhile ago and enjoying it, however for some reason the game just refuses to acknowledge i'm playing on a computer
have nothing plugged in, but as soon as the game opens all i'm able to do is move my mouse - menus register no clicks or inputs - but the second i plug a controller in the issue is nonexistent
there are some other oddities that have proven to be a bit annoying (video settings resetting every time i open the game for one thing) however i don't mind that as much
is there any consistent fix for this? since i don't want to be forced into using a controller just to play one game on the side
i've tried both repairing and disabling overlays but it hasn't fixed anything from what i've seen

Exit Origin completely and then browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin
Rename or delete the file "igo64.dll"
Launch the game again, It's the only fix I know that works.

didn't work sadly, tried it on both origin and the new ea app

I fixed it by first navigating through these folders Documents - Battlefield 1 - settings - open PROFSAVE_profile with notepad or word pad.
Scroll down till you see "GstRender .Dx12Enabled. if the number 1 is there, change it to zero.
It should looked like this
GstRender .Dx12Enabled 0
Check game, see if it works.
