When you open the game you should see an user selection menu (if not, click disconnect button in the top right corner), click new user, create online account (I assume that you want a new one), the form will ask you for the key. Remember the user and password.

I have the impression that you're mistaking the license code to a Steam, GOG, Bethesda Launcher game activation code. The game cannot be activated on these or any other platform. When you download and install the retail game, you use the license code to create an online account to play online.
