I'm going to assume that you already know how to either port forward or use a tunneling service like
Tailscale
(Multi-Platform and Better) or
Hamachi
(Windows-only, old, and depreciated).

If you don't then please look up any of the other 50 billion tutorials online.
Before you start, make sure that Return to Castle Wolfenstein and RealRTCW are both installed on the same drive.
Okay?
Let's go!
Go to
/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Copy the
"Main"
folder.
Go to
/SteamLibrary/steamapps/common/RealRTCW/coop
Paste the
"Main"
folder.
I'm on Linux and the game booted up using Proton with no issues after this just like regular RealRTCW. I could go around the menus and change settings with no issues but actually trying to start a non-dedicated server or join as a client on my PC would put me in an infinite loading screen until I Alt+F4'd the game.
I figured that the only way I could bypass this was to specifically use
RTCWCoop.x86.exe
or
RTCWCoopDED.x86.exe
instead of their x64 counterparts. So hopefully the devs can either fix the x64 executables or allow us to set the x86 ones as the defaults on Steam.
Thank You in advance Dev Team! <3
If you use Keyboard and Mouse like a normal person, you're pretty much fine with launching the game via the executable instead of Steam so long as you don't care about achievements. However, for us weirdos who want to put our new Steam Controllers to work, add the x86 co-op executable to Steam as a non-Steam game.
