RealRTCW 5.4 - Key bindings bug

bladeMain · 23 Mar 2026 at 07:20 · permalink

After updating to RealRTCW 5.4, the 0–9 keys on the numeric keypad no longer work at all.
The other keys (/*-+,Enter) work normally.

It is being investigated. Thanks for the report. If it goes good - expect hotfix.

Ok, recent hotfix should fix this

Thanks!

So there's still some kind of bug. You can assign the Num 0–9 keys, and they even get saved in the configuration file. But after restarting the game, even though the keys are still correctly saved in the file, they aren't assigned in the game settings. You have to reassign these keys every time you launch the game.

Noted, will investigate further

Was it fine before the 5.4 update?

Yes. That’s because I’ve been using a programmable mouse for years when gaming, and I’ve assigned the Num keys to the other buttons for better compatibility.

Currently, the assigned NUM keys do not appear in the game settings, but they work in the game (even after a restart).

In the current version, it works perfectly. The key bindings are displayed in the settings and remain active even after restarting the game.

The same is happening on the controller, especially on the Steam Deck. I have to remap almost all the buttons to the keyboard layout without rebinding every time I launch the game.
