Demo review: I watched my own mistakes and somehow blamed everyone else first

Watched a recording of a practice round and had a deeply inconvenient discovery: the player blocking my route was me, about four seconds earlier.

During the match I was convinced nobody followed the push. Watching it back, I called the push while two people were still returning. Then I changed direction without saying anything, took a fight, and used voice to complain about the fight. By the time I gave useful information the window was gone.

I wrote three notes rather than trying to fix everything: check who is actually with me, finish the call before moving, and stop narrating my death when people are still alive.

How do you review your own play without either excusing everything or deciding you have never made a correct decision in your life? I can apparently do both within the same minute.

Watch once without pausing. Otherwise the first mistake gets twenty minutes of attention and you never see what happened in the rest of the round.

I write what I knew at the time next to what the recording reveals. A decision can be reasonable with incomplete information and still fail.

The death narration one hurt. I have definitely delivered a full autobiography while somebody was trying to hear footsteps.

I would keep only one of those three changes for the next session. Under pressure I cannot remember a list and play at the same time.

One active change, three things to revisit? That feels less like throwing the review away.

Exactly. Keep the notes. Pick one thing you can notice during the next round.

Also save a moment you handled well. Not for a montage. So you know what you are trying to repeat instead of only what to avoid.

Update after another watch: the early call is the repeat offender. Going to work on that first. The aim lecture can wait.
