What makes you come back to a small gaming forum?

For me it is recognising people across different topics. Somebody who gave useful game advice turns out to paint tiny monsters or have strong opinions about bread. It feels less like a queue of questions and more like a place.

I also like threads that get an ending. If somebody asks for help, I want to know whether they solved it. If somebody starts a project, the slightly messy progress update is often more interesting than the polished first post.

What brings you back when you do not have a specific question?

Being able to disappear for a while and come back without needing to explain the absence.

People disagreeing without turning it into a permanent feud. I can argue about a map today and enjoy playing with the same person tomorrow.

Useful titles. “Help” and “you need to see this” tell me nothing. I realise this is a boring answer but I mean it.

I came for the games and stayed to find out whether the ferryman got his share of the loot.

Small updates. Finished the thing, changed my mind, tried your suggestion. Makes the earlier conversation feel worthwhile.

Also being allowed to give a short answer. Not every thread needs an essay to prove you care.
