What is it about 2042 that kept my attention and made we want to continue playing over what bf6 is doing. anyone else feeling the same?

Bf6 season 4 came out a few weeks ago now and while the reintroduction of naval combat is great I’ve already moved onto other games. Back during 2042s life I found myself playing tons more even after the season launch and having way more fun. What is it? It can’t be the lack of content for bf6 because 2042 had one map per season. It’s like a new season for bf6 comes out and a week later im burnt out again. Anyone else feel this way?

Honestly for me it was the curiosity on how they could possibly turn a shit show launch into a stable game, every update made the game a bit better and by the end I finally got the game that I should have had at launch

Maybe this time next year we might feel the same
About bf6 but I doubt it. There’s something about bf6 I just can’t get behind…. I think for me it’s either the gunplay, matchmaking , maps or the overall vibe

For me, it's the true sandbox feel. I can do whatever I want and still make an impact on the game.

Also each class, despite having open weapons, has a place. To this day, I still see a pretty good variety in class use when I jump on.

I also think the vehicles are incredibly well balanced in 42. One could argue the night bird is OP, and it is, but only in the right hands. Other than that, every single vehicle exists in a rock-paper-scissors balance.

Yea 2042 was fun and unique despite it being shit at launch, and now it is a solid BF game. But its very different, and so is BF6. BF6 is like hardcore close quarters predictable flank type garbage. 2042 was open world wingsuit flight unpredictability nonsense garbage. So theyre two very different feeling games

My biggest problem is I cant get invested into the aesthetic of the game, the game setting up a nato civil war style and then hiding it behind a pmc that really has no good explanation for their reason to exist and goals sucks, 2042 for all its problems and weird story choices had some pretty cool story aesthetics such as a world run down by weather, lack of resources, and having the two remaining super powers go at it by hiring people to fight their wars for them

The artwork and gunplay are trash in BF6 and the whole game feels soulless and uninspired compared to previous BF games. To me BF6 is the end of the franchise.

I went to play 2042 on PC this past weekend but kept getting an error. I'm going to try again this weekend. I miss it

Bf6 is soulless. That’s why. It’s grounded and very basic. Destruction is cool but that shit get boring after a few rounds. 2042 just had way more to do and more creative ways to pto and get kills.

The TTK is horrible in BF6, helicopters are fun to fly in 2042, they feel perfect, BF6 feels like you're flying a Semi truck.

2042 is more sandboxy. You can get around the maps more easily and the solo flying options in Sundance and the pondhawks add a major extra dimension. You also aren't forced to play engineer on every large vehicle map. There was also a wider choice of ground vehicles. Just more to do all round.

BF6 re-grounded the series a little too well - I know my friends and I certainly got very used to how well 2042 balanced being a "military shooter" (I know folks will riot if you say anything other than Arma or Squad are true military games) and modern game.

I really enjoy 6 but I absolutely enjoyed 2042 loads more.
