I will die on this hill - Warzone 1 coming back would save WZ and it wasn’t just covid or nostalgia of why the game was so fun and did so well.

Warzone 1 wasn’t perfect. Yes, having the game released right as lockdowns came gave it a huge boost, I won’t deny that. But I hate the opinion that Warzone 1 was only successful because we had nothing to do. The game plain looked and played better than anything we’ve had since, outside of arguable MW2023 WZ.

I played Warzone 1 regularly all the way up until the end of Nov 2022 before WZ2 dropped. I had a regular squad that played at least several nights a week. We all loved the game. Even when they took out Verdansk, and gave us Caldera, I still had a lot of fun after they got the bugs on the map fixed. Once WZ2 dropped and fundamentally changed the way the game played, we quit all together. The closest we’ve had to WZ1 since was MW2023 WZ which was a lot of fun and we played regularly up until the horrendous BO integration.

I would bet so much money if they simply took the look, feel, gameplay and fundamentals of WZ1 and built of that by investing in a stronger anti cheat, adding regular events, frequent updates, changes to the meta, more map options and also better playlists, the game would still be thriving to this day.

I promise you, show gameplay footage of Warzone 1 and gameplay footage of the current Warzone to someone who has never played the game before. They will guess Warzone 1 is the modern game we have today and the current Warzone was from almost 7 years ago.

Current wz is better

They would need to keep it, and not change it after 3-5 weeks.

The start of verdansk was good too. But it’s pretty terrible now.

Covid definitely helped A LOT and like you already implied: OG Warzone had a ton of problems itself. But the core gameplay was great. If they would actually bring back Warzone 2020 and keep the tone, gameplay and skins, but work on all the technical problems that we had back then, then it would definitely be a success!

How many fucking times is this going to be posted on this sub lol they brought Verdansk back, brought everything like to how it was originally, people played it for 3 weeks and then stopped.

This question/topic needs to be banned for God’s sake lol

Didn’t they already do this and nobody cared?

The proof that you're right is that Activision will never bring it back because it would completely cannibalize the playerbase of the shitty game they're currently working on monetizing.

Verdansk was still heavily played after that 3 weeks. What you're thinking is when they forced everyone into the failure that was black out Royale mode because they got rid of the gamemode that most people were playing verdansk in again. But on that point they didn't bring it "back as it was" the garbage movement system is still implemented and the fundamentals of the game are vastly different than 2020/21 warzone

There was more to WZ1 than just the map. Mainly the movement and gunplay. You can’t just bring back the map and expect it to fix everything. A lot of people don’t like omnimovement or the black ops guns.

You are wrong. As simple as that. The game was fresh and brand new that's why it succeded. You can't recapture that feeling and learning curve just rereleasing the old game.

For sure. It wasn’t just COVID that made the game great, it was everything. Graphics, gameplay, etc.
