[COD] the divided between classic and modern cod players

Nornvik · 7 Sep 2026 at 16:26 · permalink

Ever since the port of black ops 1&2 came out and massive resurgence for a two golden age of cod and bring a classic mode to current black ops game.

Seems like the movement gotta so fast to point it’s been burning out if a lot of players and just making maps so small got so bland and boring to play on.

Classic fans are tired of small maps and maps being boring and predictable and no uniqueness from these maps

Modern fans like the maps like Rust and Nuke town so they can grind for camo and attachments etc and people staying in cover for couple of seconds will be called a camper.

Use the fast movement exploits against other players.

Honestly for this one cod year bring back classic cod movement and see of people like it or not because seem port for black ops 1&2 show something.

Read the a article the ports made more money than black ops 7 that’s tell you something

BO7 Classic Mode paved the way forward and the other studios have no excuse to not include it in their games.

Even if MW4 add sometime of classic mode is maps being to small or maps said it’s medium but actually small.

We won’t have variety of maps size like golden age of cod did.

Time is a circle. We went from fast arena fps. Too the mid 2000’s gritty boots on the ground fps to fast nu cod/titanfall/Fortnite movement to people wanting mid 2000’s boots on the ground fps again

I know what you mean, but a lot of today’s maps would still play a lot better once you’ve got rid of the modern mechanics. I wouldn’t even mind if Classic Modes were just remastered maps from before, at least for a while. Eventually, there would have to be all new content.

It’s not the movement. It’s SBMM. Everyone’s playing a different game essentially. Fortnite did it best with build and no build modes. Same with Bo7’s classic mode. You don’t punish modern players for being better at the mechanics of the game, and you don’t punish classic players for their play style either. It’s not hard to appease both sides

It's not the this GREAT DIVIDE you may think it is. A lot of vocal minorities in COD that will you have you thinking their views are "half the fan base" if not the majority.

bo7 classic mode is fire, the only thing i don’t like is the lack of auto sprint cuz I don’t wanna break my sticks clicking them again.

This is so reductive and literally not true at all. The premise is true in the sense the community is divided, but there a lot of players who like both things and it seems what you like is more so closer to MWII than anything

Not for nothing you say Rust and Nuketown.....two maps that are classic maps

Yeah, the last few years of Tac-Sprint essentially becoming the new sprint has kinda made Auto-sprint mandatory, especially with Omnimovement, so it took me a while to get used to but I much prefer this system. It’s odd though that Auto-sprint does work if you play any Classic modes in Private Match.

Too many people complained about maps like stonehaven. The devs listened to the community.

I agree. Shooting people comming at me sliding and diving is like shooting fish in a barrel sometimes. Thats how i know most of the people complaining really just have a skill issue.
