I'm looking to return to the game after a few years off, and I'm wondering what the state of the game is like at the moment. I saw the recent VAC changes and wanted to see how it works out before deciding to return. Has it affected the game in any way? And what is the state of the game in general currently?

vac is bit better now but still not perfect, you still see some sus accounts in higher ranks but definitely less than before. game feels mostly same, maybe little more players since the update
community servers still going strong if you want to avoid mm altogether
just play faceit and you're good, we still have cheaters in premier

Just play a game and find out? Reddit is full of low trust factor players pretending to be high trust saying they get cheaters every game. So just play for yourself and find out.

If you have good trust factor its mostly clean games if you have bad trust you will run into alot of cheaters.

This will be your experience:
Premier = Full of cheaters, you will always be paranoid enemy is cheating, or your teammates cheating.
Faceit = Full of crybabies that talks and complains 24/7. You can be up 8-0, lose 1 round and there is already people fighting eachother. Only depressed people in there.
Pick your poison.
Rank is probably a big factor as well; people here are super into cs and probably at higher levels than average. I’m perfectly mediocre at \~12k with a 20 year old account and I rarely feel like I’m totally sure someone is cheating. Not many god gamers or cheaters at that level. Sometimes there will be some really sketchy plays but few and far between.
