the cleaners carbine COULD'VE been really interesting

i will never understand why the cleaners carbine's charge DOESN'T charge from the sniper doing damage, it genuinely makes no sense to me as the idea is literally right infront of the dev's faces and they decided not to take it? it wouldve rewarded getting kills and then when somebody gets in your face you have an advantage with mini crits.. it would reward skillful gameplay by making close range 1v1s easier without being as easy as the jarate bushwacka combo and also not requiring 2 slots.. am i stupid or something? this seems like such a simple idea that would not only make the cleaners carbine worth using but would follow the same design choices they've made in the past with stuff like eye lander and kunai making you weaker in the beginning but stronger after playing well. im so confused its been bugging me for the longest time because this idea feels so obvious

You only need about 100 damage to fill the Crikey meter, that would be crazy strong to have a constant Bushwacka crit on demand

No risk, high reward. Sniper should have to take that risk for the charge imo.

I run Huntsman, Cleaners and Bushwanka. Cleaner's seems to shine with that setup at current balance.

i meant if you mad the damage like 500 or something, so you have to kill a few people to unlock the mini crits which arent even THAT strong

Sniper having melee crits isnt so bad when you consider the phlog and the fact that sniper has 0 mobility

Honestly I think a cool buff to it would be to make it so it charges with any damage done while the carbine is out, so bleed from the shiv or an arrow in air could both charge it

Even if carbine gave mini crits, at mid range without ramp up the base damage is 8. And mini crit damage is 11. And it shoots 20% slower than stock SMG anyway.

Why would you switch to cleaner carbine when you are already holding the perfect mid range weapon, the sniper rifle, in your hand?

I rather do 50 damage bodyshots while unscoped than pray that the terrible ranfom bullet spread allows me to land 5 mini crit shots in less time than it takes to shoot with my rifle.

Worse yet, weapon switching is actively losing time you could be using your sniper rifle to shoot. And you're losing the opportunity cost of being able to headshot someone after the threat is gone as you need to switch weapons again.

All this, when I could just use my secondary slot for Darwin's giving me 50% fire resist and afterburn immunity which is arguably far more impactful in close range fights.

Something like this would make more sense for a primary. The bushwacka is already good against lower skill players in pubs, giving it more power wouldn't be good for casual play. Sniper should give something up to be effective at close range.
