Getting over buyer’s remorse for 1st gaming PC ?

Hi guys, quite a simple yet tricky issue regarding buyer’s remorse as I bought and built my first PC like 10 days ago for around 1800€ (Ryzen 7 9800x3d / rx 9070 xt / 32go ram DDR5). I know it has already been asked in the past and this issue is quite common even outside the field of gaming but still, would gladly hear your input.

To give you guys an overview of my situation :
\- I used to own an Xbox series X and a PS5 but not anymore since I sold them quite some time ago so I only have a Switch 1 that I don’t so often use (might upgrade to a Switch 2 down the line) ;
\- I currently own a MacBook Pro M1 Pro for personal use and sometimes work related stuff. Can obviously play some games on it but not quite close to performances of a PC and the scope of games available on PC ;
\- Decided to build a PC regarding all the bs going on with consoles (Sony and PS5, less sales, arbitrary pricing, being restricted to a single ecosystem, soon to be overpriced next gen consoles…), being able to profit an open ecosystem and a desk setup allowing me to switch to a gaming PC to my work laptop or my MacBook, play games with better graphics and also play games that are not available on consoles or badly optimized (MMOs, 4X, RTS…)

All that said, after setting up my PC and trying it out with some games (honeymoon phase aka trying to launch lots of games, being impressed but not sticking with them to try others with ultra graphics), I can’t stop but questioning myself regarding my choice of building the PC and investing below 2K in it.
I keep being feeling torn regarding this choice, telling myself that I could enjoy most of the games on my couch with a 400€ console (with lower graphics but honestly, could still enjoy them, never had the top of line hardware to begin with for my whole life), that it’s expensive (even though I do have the money for it, that’s not the question) and that I know it’s a PC so I can do other things than gaming but down the line, I already have a MacBook Pro that can handle all my personal stuff and my work if need be.
On the opposite, I’m telling myself that I should let me enjoy it since gaming always has been a hobby and that it’s not that expensive since that build should last several years while next consoles are gonna be super expensive and I wouldn’t need to buy them (don’t really care for consoles exclusives, especially Sony’s)…

Have some of you been through this feeling ? How did you manage to get over it and actually feel good about your expensive buy, letting you profit and have fun simply… gaming ?

9800X3D with 32GB DDR5 and a 9070XT is pretty cheap for €1800 all things considered.

If you regret buying it, sell it. It's not that hard to sell right now. Components are crazy expensive and someone will definitely want this exact system.

I've never had buyers remorse over anything pc related. I've been sure I wanted the machine before buying it.

I'm the total opposite, bought a similar spec recently, slapped steam os on there, fired up kcd2 and have enjoyed from the very start. Absolutely love it, runs like a dream, acts like a console (e.g. turns on with a Xbox controller whilst I await my steam controller) downloads about 5 times faster than the console, everything is crazy cheap in comparison with multiple stores and crazy amounts of free games today I'll never get round to playing, haven't thought about the ps5 or Xbox since I got it. In fact I'm considering selling one or both.

If it’s paid for just enjoy it. I have a MacBook for work and study but use my pc (almost exactly same as yours for games)

You can stream games on local networks!

So you could hook you MacBook to the tv and steam games from your pc to it.

I felt the stress of spending money, but at a few months I’m over it. Nice having a pc that’ll play anything.

I don't feel the same thing because there has been no enjoying games on a console for me since the NEO-GEO days when i was a kid. Since the first xbox era, consoles have tried to emulate PCs rather than Arcade machines, and thus i've been playing games on the superior machine they tried to emulate aka the PC.

Gaming is a hobby, like all of them it can be expensive, but you treated yourself to something you wanted, you should enjoy it right now, because in a few years you'll start to feel the obsolescence of your machine as we all do, and the cycle will start anew.

What games did you play? A pc is just a mean to get to gaming, it all comes down to the games you play and whether you like them. A lot of games don't benefit per se from being played on a pc and could be enjoyed in more or less the same way on a cheap series s or switch

No, not really. I have had the opposite experience. I bought a PS5 and later an PC and I regret purchasing the PS5 beforehand. It is collecting dust in the corner. PC has so much more to offer and if you know your ways, games, software, etc wont cost you a dime. Though, I am not sure if I can write about this in this subreddit. Despite you paying less than 2K, you will still have a lot of enjoyment with the PC. You just need to find the right game. Not only that, if you stay on the ''nice, friendly and law abiding'' side, you still have Steam which have amazing sales compared to consoles. Better refund policy as well.

With the way consoles are going nowm you will be paying more money in the long run when having a console (example: Paying for online & games).

I recommend you to focus on one game only, don’t fall for the trap of playing 2-4 games a time. That will make you more often than not, end up not finishing the game(s).

Got a 77 4k oled aswell and gave my 5070ti to my brother and got myself a 5080.
Absolutely amazing experience when gaming, blows the consoles out of the water hitting 120fps+ at 4k
