Ubisoft Opting out of Disc to Digital is Very Disappointing (But Not Surprising)

I have around 50-60 discs from the Xbox One and Xbox Series era, and of all of them only 6 did not give a license. 4 of them were Ubisoft titles (the others were Forza Horizon 4 and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, I presume this is due to licensing).

Far Cry 4, Far Cry 5, Immortals Fenyx Rising and Watch Dogs Legion all failed as "not participating in digital licensing".

I don't know if this is because of Ubisoft +, their general incompetence this past decade or a combination of the both, but I was surprised such a large publisher hasn't gotten involved with this scheme.

I've heard Square Enix has the same issue, but all my titles from them were digital anyway.

I tried all my discs in one go Friday, was this over the weekend?

Interesting, but not surprising. If I was Xbox I would do my best to mandate it, but I get why it's out of their control. Wouldn't be surprised that some publishers WANT to resell their games digital only so they can double dip as much as they can revenue wise.

Forza Horizon 4 not being disc to digital is.. weird though.

5 and 6 isn't a big deal because of first-party game pass. Forza Horizon 4 is delisted, so it would have been nice from a preservation standpoint to be able to to D2D it. I am guessing its licensing with Forza specifically, racing games tend to delist 5+ years after release usually.

Horizon games work

Not all games will work straight off the bat. More will be added over time, so maybe those ones you tried that didn't work just haven't been added to the system yet.

I thought they might have been big on it due to early adpotion of fps boost.

I did see a few weeks ago, something similar to play anywhere with them and Uplay iirc?

glad they finally added forza, that was bugging me for a while

ubisoft's whole approach to anything physical has been a mess lately, they can't even keep their own launcher functional half the time so i'm not shocked they're dragging their feet on this

Really? Guess I'll have to try this when I get home today. Been waiting for Horizon 3 as I didn't buy that one digitally.
