Cheating in Casual

I have run into at least one cheater a day since I started playing casual again in early July. This is ridiculous.

You die in a suspicious way to someone on the other team. Grab their steam id from the console using the "status" command. Throw the steam id into the search website, and discover that the account is four months old and they have 200 hours. Four months old and they're top fragging. Four months old and they're hitting shots that pro players wouldn't hit.

Its always the same thing. A sniper who never misses. A demoman with perfect predict airshots. A heavy who's minigun is far too accurate at range. A spy who backstabs you from 2 feet in front of you. A Force-A-Nature scout who shoots both shots at the same time. Perfect uphill quadruple bunnyhops from a market gardener soldier.

Last night I ran into a multi-queue of cheaters. There were at least 4 people on the enemy team getting kills when they shouldn't have. A scan through their accounts showed nearly-identical, bot-spammed comment sections.

This is terrible. Casual is a poor enough system- no map timers, no team switching, no votescramble, no spectating... and then you add this on top of it and its no wonder people are begging for reform.

I can't remember the cheating problem being this bad before. I've been playing this game since 2011, and I've never encountered so many cheaters in valve servers before this year. (Not including bots...)

I know its an epidemic in CS:2 right now but I never expected casual being this bad.

Yeah

The biggest problem is the fact that for whatever reason some casual players won’t kick closet cheaters but will instantly kick actual bots.

Cheater is still a cheater even though he is closeting, I can’t understand how that makes a difference.

And also some players really don’t notice when someone is closet cheating. Or simply they don’t care.

Oh whoops. Not only did I totally forget about this thread, I commented. LOL.

OH lol, well it’s still as relevant as ever, nothings really changed.

I mean, the game never really had an anticheat. It's obvious people come here and cheat their ass of, since there are no consequences whatsoever

Most people can’t spot the average cheater.

they've been conditioned to only look out for blatant cheaters, but not subtle ones. Most players probably don't know more subtle cheats exist. Don't mistake incompetence for malice.

Why kick the guy carrying the team?....Thats what it really comes down to, wanting to win.

And no, I dont agree with that mentality.

I would say it's more common for people to call hacks on legit players with 10,000 hours.

That falls under the umbrella of being unable to spot cheats.

Also you mean highly skilled players, raw hour count is literally meaningless in determining if someone is cheating or not.

It is still an indicator. There is a heavy correlation between skill and experience.

I think it’s mostly that average Team Fortress 2 players aren’t perceptive enough to notice someone is hacking unless they’re playing Sniper and spinning in circles
