[BO2] ps5 hacker got my phone number

ArmanK97 · 1 Sep 2026 at 21:10 · permalink

Me and 5 of my mates were playing bo2 on ps5 doing a few games of SnD, about 10 games in one of my buddies starts getting spam called, then another friend and another until all 6 of us are being repeatedly spam called from different locations in England?

Has anyone else encountered this on the Ps5 port? And does anyone know if this is inherently dangerous/malicious?

Another reason why yall shouldn’t be playing that trash security port , glad I didn’t rebuy it

Dunno how after all this time they still botched the security on it

so basically do y'all have your phone numbers linked to your psn? and somehow others can access it... seems very unlikely sonys security would be that shit, but if its true than that horrible

The only thing I have my phone number linked to is 2FA so....

well since the game doesnt use activision accounts, it would have to be psn,

(unless they are somehow getting phone numbers through ip addresses, which is unlikely)

and apparently if "hackers" can access psn accounts personal info like phone number, that means they also likely have access to real names, addresses and credit card info on file...

that would be a massive security exploit... are you sure one of your friends isnt pranking?

I’m sorry this happened, but 2 step verification through SMS has been proven unsafe years ago, I don’t know why they still allow it

Its only unsafe if they have your phone or sim card

Because they would only fund the most absolute barebones nothing extra port for ps5. Not one upgrade, technical improvement, security update, nothing. Where the fuck did that snoop dog and cardi b skin money go.

bro is glad he didn't have some fun

Sounds like you never heard of sim swapping, it’s not common but the possibility is still there

sograc · 2 Sep 2026 at 00:09 · permalink

But thats the point, its complicated and rare. Generally SMS verification is fine.

I suppose it’s better than nothing. But in general it’s less secure and slower due to codes not showing up upon request
