Best battery system to buy into

My wife and I recently bought a home and are torn on the best option for a tool system. We are torn between Dewalt, Ryobi, and the harbor freight brands.

We will likely just be doing light basic jobs around the house and yard. No framing or sheet rock work.

We have experience with dewalt from growing up with family members in Labor union that liked it, but open to Makita or Milwaukee. We are attracted to Ryobi and harbor freight for the low cost of course. Live close to Home Depot and harbor freight.

Interested in hearing pros and cons for any of the brands, especially things that a Google search won’t tell us. Thanks y’all!

Dewalt

Ryobi. It's cheap and more than capable enough for homeowners. I have the 18v brushless tools and they're great.

just get ryobi honestly. they make everything and i doubt you’ll beat them up

I have Ryobi 18v and love it. I miss my ego leaf blower and that’s the only thing I miss. You don’t need dewalt or Milwaukee. Same company owns Ryobi and Milwaukee.

I just put the up the Ryobi Link wall mount system and it’s pretty sweet too

Makita rules but if you're not using for a trade, Ryobi is great.

I'm replacing my Ryobi tools with Hercules tools.

You're going to get a million different answers here. They are so good enough for home owners.

I've had issues with Ryobi warranty and Harbor Freight has been pretty simple.

I have Ryobi for all indoor type tools, and a small hedge trimmer and small chainsaw for outdoors. The rest of my outdoor tools are Ego and they are great.

If i was starting over again, I would do exactly the same.

Whatever you pick, stick with it just for the battery compatibility. Personally, I’m a Dewalt guy, however I do have some craftsman brand nail guns and a Milwaukee pin nailer only because they came with batteries and were a steal when I bought them. Black Friday sales are always nice and Dewalt usually has a bundle at a great price.

I have Ryobi. Reliable, available at HD and Amazon. If you’re handy and can do repairs like replace carbs or electrical switches etc, they’ll last forever. I been still have old blue drill, circ saw, and recip saw. Rest of my stuff is the new green. And it’s on sale frequently.

I have Makita, but if I had to start today, it would be Ryobi.

For a DIYer get Ryobi and their brushless variants
