Romcoms where they don't get together in the last 10 seconds?

irpirtirhGOOLD · 7 Sep 2026 at 15:05 · permalink

I spent my whole life not watching any movies and then the academic stress in the last month got to me and I started binging romcoms ( How to lose a guy, 10 things I hate anout you, maid in manhattan, fool's gold, etc) and I've liked most of them so far but I kinda hate the fact that they always either end with one of the leads running to the other and confessing love suddenly and then the final scene is just a kiss and it's over, or with a scene from their lives 10 years later with kids. I understand it's a movie and has to be way more fast paced than a series, but are there any movies where I get even 5 minutes of their dating era?

Based on your examples, it seems like you’re not counting those where they’re together for much of the movie and then break up just to reunite at the end?

Not sure it counts as a rom com, that ending is gut wrenching

at first I hated this movie but as I have gotten older and found myself in a similar situation I now love this movie.
