I liked it more than the movie.

I liked it. Haven't watched S2 yet (wasn't aware it was out!), but I definitely will. I don't really think arbitrary ratings are very useful, but I guess a 7/10

It's an easy 8/10 for me. It's perfectly cast, has high production value, and all of the classic Guy Ritchie stylization and prose. I was very impressed by the first season, and having just finished season 2, it may top the first.

Season 1 was good, season 2 however imo is really fucking good. I planned on just watching one episode and ended up staying awake until early hours because I couldn’t stop.

Oooo now you got me intrigued. I rewatched the movie and it’s such an enjoyable ride.

I watched the series first and was astounded, thought it was brilliant. Watched the movie and thought it was just good in comparison. Haven’t seen s2 bc I watched s1 with my boyfriend and we just split up and I’d been looking forward to watching s2 with him because s1 was something we both genuinely enjoyed and he found memorable as an audhd with little interest in sitting still and watching movies/series. But imma watch it on my own soon 🥰

I disliked it. It felt more like milking of the ‘Guy Ritchie’ formula, rather than a real project by him. Every Guy Ritchie popular film has his ‘style’, yet all of them are amazing stand-alone with different nuances, you can tell Guy Ritchie invested in them.

Gentlemen series is a case where Netflix game Guy a bag of money and said - hey, do the ‘thing’.

Imo the real art is when it comes from the director, not by request of someone rich

I enjoyed it but it never get close to the movie for me. And the s1 finale was straight up lame

It’s like they trained an AI on guy Ritchie scripts and got it to churn out a tv show.
