Facial expressions are game changers. Onimusha

Ok so this game is fucking sick and one of the better games lately.

The BIGGEST thing to me in terms of story telling is facial expressions. Mane of the best cinema performances are very nuanced acting. The eyes. The mouth. The face is extremely emotive as that is what all of Homo sapiens use to determine a situation.

Gaming has come a long way and other companies need to take note. Capcom is on a generational run right now…

Not to mention the fact that Musashi's face is based of a long dead yet legendary Japanese actor.

Musashi won me over with the reveal trailer. I was a fan from just the demo. His physical expressiveness is just so cool and makes him feel like an actual character. His very movements carry his personality, and I love it.

Plus, I'm a huge Kurosawa fan. The fact his face is based on Toshiro Mifune was in itself a selling point for me. Musashi it legitimately a contender for my favorite Capcom protag.

Instantly loveable character. Unique personality for a samurai, thats for sure.

It really does add a lot to the performance. And not just him, but every major CGI character too.

I still find it a bit hypocritical that most people gloss over Capcom's use of Mifune, and in the same breath vilify Sega for Tupac in STH (and, funnily enough, no such criticism for Bunta Sugawara for the same game), even though both games are cut from the same cloth: using dead actors as likenesses.

I'm not necessarily against it, especially when it's with the permission of the actors' families, as is the case with both games, but it's a gross double standard in treatment and perception, imo.

I mean, Onimusha has been doing it from the start. Iirc. The older games also used iconic samurai actors.

For the tupac thing, its just racism disguised as concern.

I absolutely loved the opening felt like something out of pirates of the carabian

Exactly. Onimusha has been doing it since Oni 2. Many other games have done the same, like COD or Assassin's Creed for their alt-history retellings. The boat has sailed a long time ago. Why does STH suddenly become an issue? I don't really get it.

the lighting on his face in that trailer is wild

Just sublime, boy!

I’ve been playing the game in English as it was the default setting. Is that the best way to play or is it better in another language?

Most people don't know or care about Japanese actors so it doesn't affect them. They are familiar with Tupac though, so that's what they get offended by.
