How should i plan my economy as an awper ?

zenc0 · 31 Aug 2026 at 09:38 · permalink

I have been wondering if its best to buy AWP any given chance even when sacrificing the helmet or utility. Also what to do when i dont have enough money for AWP, eg. i can buy AK (or any other rifle), should save on the util etc.

What would you do or some other tips you would give me?

Thanks in advance.

For me, I would try to get as much kills in pistol rounds.

Then if I win pistol rounds, I get SMGs and try to farm kills to get money. If I lose pistol rounds, I either full eco or get a pistol ONLY.

I also need to anticipate what buy the enemy is having based on how the games are going so far. If I know that they are full eco or weak buy(SMGs or galil/FAMAS), I must get the kelvar+ helmet. If they are doing full buy, I can afford to forgo the helmet.

There are times where I have $5400 and I just buy AWP and Kelvar only.

This one is the most important thing. Dont depend entirety on AWP to get kills. You need to be good at rifling otherwise you will be a liability if you dont have the AWP.

Helmet is overrated when they full buy, a single AK headshot kills you anyway so that money is better on a flash or smoke

If you got 5400 and buy AWP plus kevlar you are left with like 200, just enough for one flash maybe, but then no kit on CT side which hurts on retakes

I said if they do full buy, you can forgo the helmet...

Also $5400 is the minimum amount you can buy for AWP and Kelvar, dont think you can buy anything else since AWP is 4750 and Kelvar is 650.

It depends on a ton, impossible to answer here

Its a very hard question to answer. As a soloQ player awping role is hard to take on yourself and is often reserved by certain positions.

You need to be felixible as a player to play the rifle as well, when needed otherwise for the most part you're a liability for winning rounds.

What rank are you? Realistically you should learn to rifle and play awp when you have the money. If you are true “AWPer” you will learn to balance the economy on what works for you. But probably right now you are just a mediocre player that finds the awp easier. It’s better to learn to buy and play with the team.

If you on an actual team and a real “AWPer” go watch some YouTubes on it.

If you play in a team and you’re the awper, your team should be helping to manage economy with you. But you should never be skimping on utility. Full buy rounds means you full buy.

If you’re solo queue, then idk. I’d be pissed if my solo queue guy insisted he’s an awper and saved on buy rounds, but that’s just me.

The crutcher needs advice from the community to help make the game 50% easier for him

Don't buy armor pistol round, don't buy anything next round, buy awp 3rd round. Save and repeat, ask for awps when your teammates have money, ask them to sacrifice their armor just so you can awp. Awp awp awp, the more you do the better you get👍🏻

With less rounds in the game now you kind of have to be able to rifle more. Unfortunately getting an awp consistently is now only easiest if you're winning.

If you start out losing your first gun round is going to be a rifle. If you live and win and then win again you might be able to get an awp. But the game is entirely different than csgo where you could save and have an awp first buy round every time.

Depends on the rank and how many people dry swing in your matches IMO

Always try to at least buy kev tho, for movement penalty reasons

Terrible advice, never save in a pistol
