Yeah pretty much.

People died a lot back in the day. Like, A LOT.

The relationship people had with death in older times was much closer and more frequent. It was something you witnessed fairly regularly.

I mean one of the biggest mortality rates before vaccines became administered was child mortality most kids didn't make it past the age of five

Back in my mom's hometown they had chickenpox parties. I don't know how effective that was, but it's what they did.
