Is it unfair that people can’t choose the circumstances they are born into?

I’m sure nobody would choose to be born to a broke single woman living in a trailer park, for instance.

Is it fair the sky is blue?

No because nobody can choose. So it’s luck of the draw. It’s random

Nope

According to many religions and spirituality experts, we actually do choose.

Yeah. It’s also unfair that some people are born prettier, smarter, taller, more talented, more sociable, or whatever. The universe doesn’t care about fair.

No, it’s not fair. But that’s life!

The game is more exciting because you don’t get to choose what hardness mode you play at, it’s just randomly assigned to you, and you don’t know until you grow up.

I mean yeah it'd be awesome to be able to choose, but we can't all be children of billionaires can we?

Life isn't fair, as they say. I wouldn't choose to be born broke, but I would choose my kids and husband all over again, even if that meant fewer accommodations.

ellr16 · 7 Sep 2026 at 16:22 · permalink

Of course it is unfair.

oOozan · 7 Sep 2026 at 16:22 · permalink

what's your proposed solution?

ellr16 · 7 Sep 2026 at 16:22 · permalink

Being random does not mean it is fair.
