GPU Scaling missing. Questions + Workaround for Asus XG27AQDPG / RTX5000

I'm sure some of you will ask and yes, I went through multiple DDU runs with different driver versions and I did the entire CRU process etc, did not work.

Context: I recently switched to the Asus XG27AQDPG 1440P OLED 500Hz monitor and noticed I no longer had the GPU as a scaling option, only Display was shown. As I play CS2 with black bars this is a big issue as you need GPU scaling in order to make black bars work.
I've searched and read a lot of posts about GPU scaling option missing with dual monitors and from what I'm understand is, that this is still an on-going issue for many people.

Questions:
1-Will there ever be a fix from NVIDIA's side or has this to do with bandwidth limitations?
2-Is there a better known workaround than what I used?

Workaround: So what worked for me is by using the 9800X3D's iGPU for the 2nd monitor but this didn't work correctly right away so here's what I did to make it work.

Only install NVIDIA GPU related drivers, no need for Adrenalin as the default MS driver works good enough. I had to connect my monitors in a certain order for what ever reason so your mileage may vary.
I connected my main monitor to the GPU via DP port and the second monitor with HDMI to the motherboard and booted the PC. Next I unplugged the HDMI and set GPU scaling for the main monitor and rebooted the PC. Finally, I connected the HDMI again for the second monitor and now GPU scaling stayed activated for the main monitor.

Specs: 9800X3D/64gb/RTX 5090 with latest drivers.
Monitors: Main: Asus XG27AQDPG, Second: MSI Optix G273QPF(set to 1440p 60hz)

In what scaling option are you missing GPU? Aspect ratio, fullscreen, integer etc. Or all of them?

Also - for black bars, dont you simply set it to no scaling and set an appropriate res? Ie something like 2160x1440. I thought you mainly needed scaling for lower res and/or stretched.

If theres only display scaling available, cant you just change in your monitor OSD?

I'm having a similar problem. I guess a lot of other people with high bandwidth monitors have it as well. It's really annoying...

This is a known limitation of using multiple monitors when at least one has high bandwidth throughput:

>High bandwidth monitors are those that support display modes requiring high pixel clock rates, which in turn demand more GPU resources. The threshold for what qualifies as "high bandwidth" varies by product. On Blackwell GPUs, any mode operating above 1620 MHz is considered high bandwidth. For instance, the 7680x4320@60Hz mode defined in the CTA-861-H specification runs at 2376 MHz, making it a high bandwidth mode for Blackwell.

These monitors typically support display scaling natively. However, in some single-monitor setups, users may still prefer GPU scaling. When multiple monitors are connected to a GPU and at least one of them is high bandwidth, that monitor will default to display scaling only. GPU scaling is disabled in this case due to bandwidth limitations. Notably, display scaling can be more efficient than GPU scaling in such scenarios, as it reduces the bandwidth load on display cables—especially at higher refresh rates.

GPU scaling was missing for all of them.

For CS2 specifically I've always needed GPU scaling + the game needs to be in fullscreen mode, this I tested on multiple monitors so I really needed GPU scaling.

You have 2 monitors and one of them is in high bandwidth operation. If you read the driver notes you would see that Display scaling is defaulted once the high bandwidth threshold is reached.

So basically my work around is solid or get a 2nd GPU which is kinda ridiculous.

Yw, yeah I would stick with your workaround too unless you still have an older GPU laying around.
