Please, EA DICE, bring back proper bot support and progression like in Battlefield 2042

FinnBarrah · 22 Jan 2026 at 14:05 · permalink

Once again, I’m asking and appealing to the developers to allow proper creation of bot-only servers, local play with bots, and full progression of soldier and weapons while playing with bots, exactly the way it worked in Battlefield 2042.

In Battlefield 2042, players could choose the bot difficulty level. There was no messing around with health multipliers or custom damage sliders from the game menu. It was standard Battlefield gameplay across all modes, just with bots set to a chosen difficulty. Each difficulty level clearly defined the pace, challenge, and feel of the match.

I absolutely loved playing on medium difficulty in Battlefield 2042 and holding my own there. I’m asking the developers to restore this same option in the new Battlefield. I truly hope that the Battlefield 6 community that misses bot gameplay is large enough to support this post with upvotes and comments, sharing their own experiences and expectations regarding gameplay customization.

I’m asking for a response from the Portal community and the Battlefield 6 community. Together, we can actually push for change.

And please, EA DICE, stop hiding behind the excuse that bot-only customization leads to XP and weapon farming.

So what?

A good player will destroy an XP farmer even with the weakest weapon. A bad player with fully unlocked, maxed-out gear is still a bad player. Farming XP doesn’t create skill, it just masks the lack of it. Battlefield has always been about player skill, positioning, and decision-making, not about who has the most attachments unlocked.

When will EA DICE finally understand this?

I’ve even uploaded two videos to my own YouTube channel to demonstrate how ineffective your fight against XP farming really is. In 20 minutes, I earned around 60,000 XP. Playing like this is mind-numbingly boring. It’s clearly not fun gameplay. I did it only to prove a point: your anti-farming measures are completely ineffective.

ZERO FUN GAMEPLAY FOR FARM EXPERS

Instead of targeting actual exploiters, you are punishing normal players who simply want to relax, return to the game, and enjoy Battlefield with bots on their own terms, just like we could in Battlefield 2042.

Please do something, EA DICE. Fix the game for us. Listen to the community. Let us have fun.

At launch, you allowed this kind of gameplay. I spent real money on in-game currency, passes, and content specifically so I could enjoy bot matches peacefully, without ruining anyone else’s experience, without showing off advantages, without affecting PvP balance.

Bots don’t care. And I only want to play with bots. Just like in Battlefield 2042.

Please. Do something.

P.S. If this is something you care about, speak up in the comments and support the discussion.
Visibility matters, and this is one of those issues that won’t change unless the community makes noise together.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

TL;DR:
Bring back proper bot-only gameplay like in Battlefield 2042: selectable bot difficulty, standard rules, and full progression. Using “XP farming” as an excuse doesn’t solve the problem and doesn’t create skill. Current restrictions punish normal players who just want to enjoy the game with bots without affecting PvP. Bots don’t care. Players do.

Honestly i think its not just an excuse. Xp farming really fcks up the entire portal and its potential. Before downvotes, let me say its of course DICE fault. They should have forseen this mess. They just experienced this in 2042 before Bf6 release and it even had a solo/co-op mode.

They just need to get rid of all the bot progression in Portal and bring back Solo/Co-op mode like in 2042. By this way its win-win for all of us.

Oh cmon botfarmers with 300+ lvl

They havent even mentioned portal in any of their blogs. We got fucking robbed and no one seems to care. Toxic pvp players have ruined any chance of that.

Buddy it's a video game, you can play it or not, it's that simple. Don't like the game then don't play the game. We don't need to band together for change because it's a fuckin video game. You people put too much thought and effort into being upset your video games aren't perfect. We all know you have gotten entertained for like 5 cents an hour at this point, best cost for entertainment across any other medium.

Imagine a person like this pays for a movie ticket and doesn't like the movie..."Together we can bring change! Remake that movie, I didn't like it!"

Yea especially if you can’t fill a server half the time haha

Who cares about people farming bots. I shouldn't have to grind this game every day just to be able to complete with all the unemployed players.

Dice, don't listen to that guy. Fix the poor matchmaking, implement input based Crossplay/console Crossplay and fuck those bots.

Commenting in agreement, this is all I’m waiting on to buy this game lol

This is really why my money is now going to the competition since they killed portal. The other game has 4 different game modes that allows me to progress fully in each one unhindered. With 2 PVE and 2 PVP modes I can have some fun in multiple ways I want. I really wanted to main BF6 but the devs have really gone out of their way to drive people away.

Exactly. That’s the point.
People having the option to progress with bots doesn’t hurt anyone in PvP. Not everyone has the time or energy to grind every day just to stay competitive. Skill should matter more than hours played.

You’re not wrong.
The frustrating part is that this problem was already solved in Battlefield 2042’s Portal. Limited progression rules, standard bot difficulty, no custom stat abuse. It worked.
What people are asking for now isn’t something new or extreme, it’s simply bringing back a system that already existed and functioned properly.

The frustrating part is that this isn’t a technical mystery.
These systems already worked. Disabling them and calling it a design decision doesn’t make the underlying problem disappear.
