PS5 crossplay off players

I'm back on the Battlefield after a long stint away.

I couldn't stand 2042's specialists and despite trying to get on with it i couldnt.

I've been on BF since BC2 and am missing rush as a game more now as it was always my go to.

I'm getting a lot of bot lobbys and I understand thats a crossplay off issue but prefer it to getting murdered by PC players.

I have a gaming PC and chose console over PC because I prefer controller for FPS unless its a looser shooter.

The question is where is everyone hiding, breakthrough seems to have a lot of bots or ignores crossplay settings and puts PC players in, conquest is hit and miss and nobody ever speaks, obliteration is fun but bot heavy. Where is everybody?

Matchmaking has been a struggle lately and it’s even worse with crossplay off. I’m on ps5 and struggle to find games be it cqb or conquest/escalation. I think they should introduce input based matchmaking rather than platform based (which is in shambles too since we don’t have console only crossplay).
I hate playing against pc players so unfortunately we’ll have to suffer unless Dice decides to fix matchmaking

Turns crossplay off, wonders where everyone is, many such cases

If you didnt know crossplay off only matches you with other PS players that have also disabled crossplay. You wont see normal PS players in your lobbies anymore.

Rush rotates now on a weekly basis along with some other modes, not a fan of the system personally, hopefully server browser fixes this.

"I have a gaming PC and chose console over PC because I prefer controller for FPS unless its a looser shooter." Why not just connect your controller to your PC and play that way?

Honestly, I’d prefer if they removed crossplay entirely. Xbox can keep their PC buddies.

PlayStation has a healthy playerbase if they weren’t split between pc and console lobbies. We don’t need anyone ruining the netcode with crossplay turned on and other crap that comes with CP.

I cant put a controller on PC, I dont like it. Dont ask me why I just dont.
Plus I have already paid for the game once, I dont want to pay for it again especially with GTA6 around the corner.

Guess I'll have to play bots, I dont know if there is much of a downside to that or not.

Are there any clan or team mate finders that people use so I can at least get the old BF experience?

Crossplay off players only match with other players of their platform that turn it off. This means that you only match with a fraction of the playerbase. An example: We have 37k players right now on Steam. If we assume equal distribution we have 40k per platform for a total of 120k people.

If 30% turn crossplay off you are left with 12k people on your platform with crossplay off worldwide. This is before we segregate via region, then Redsec/MP and then whatever mode you want to play and then the custom search. You might be only realistically matchmaking with a couple of hundred people, even when playing the most popular mode in the most populous region.

People often do not realise how many cascading effects crossplay off has down the line. To answer your question where everybody is: They have crossplay on.

As you can see, that’s not true. They just probably need to open their NAT type, because I’m getting full lobbies on any given day until midnight or so (PS).

I’m telling you, most console players hate crossplay with a passion.

Here are your “normal” PS players 😂

In old BFs you could do a server search and pick matches that had players in it. They need to bring that back.

Idk, I'm on PS5, in a typically populated US region, playing during typical evening hours, and when I turn off crossplay (which I would prefer), I get bot lobbies, even in front page quickplay game modes. Lately the only way to stop it is to disable crossplay.

I used to defend the bot usage to populate servers because 3 min into the match all those slots got filled with humans, but lately the games stay ~50% populated by bots through the end of the match.

I’m playing in the EU region. Do you have your ports open?

I mean, I hate the splitting of the player base that crossplay is causing, but DICE/EA seem very stubborn about doing anything about it.

Console only Crossplay sadly doesn’t exist. So XBox and PS aren’t grouped together. If you turn Crossplay off 80% chance you’re getting bot lobbies unless you’re playing the latest LTM (Operations always had full lobbies).

Unfortunately that’s just the state of the game atm, Crossplay sucks because netcode/desync is unoptimized. But if you want full lobbies you have to turn Crossplay on.

Hopefully the upcoming Server Browser will be an outlet for Crossplay Off lobbies to consistently get full matches but DICE might find a way to screw that up too.

As of now we just have to wait and see what the server browser does.

Server Browser is coming in Season 5. But knowing Dice they’ll probably mess that up too.

Hopefully it works properly and Crossplay Off players will be able to use it to get full lobbies.

What is not true? You are showing a random screenshot of a crossplay on lobby. Again, you will only match with other players that have crossplay off. If 30%, which I consider a high number, turn it off, you are matching with only \~15% of what the others match with. Of course I am promoting crossplay, because it was the reason the predecessor was playable beyond release and crossplay has only positives. All the negatives are marginal or biased perception. And I am arguing for crossplay whenever someone comes up with a crossplay off setting on PC as well.

You are also projecting. Like with many other things the vast portion of players do not care about single issues like crossplay. You have just decided that it is a bad thing and extrapolate that to everyone else.
