Why do people fall back in breakthrough

So when the defenders loose a sector and the voice tell them to fall back why do people actually fo that? Like isnt it better to atay ans difhr the enemy and perhaps should a couple of enemies in the back while they are advancing?

You get more points if you make it back alive.

Like xp? Or for winning the game?

Yes

I know in BFV you would get bonus tickets as attackers for any defenders killed. Think it still works that way in 2042 and BF6.

But I know for sure you don't lose any tickets for dieing as attackers on the sector advance.

So as a defender all you gain by staying behind is an increase to your own score. Which won't last long as after 10 or seconds into the command to fall back you become permanently spotted until you fall back or die.

It is worth it to put down any mines you have though to try and deny any vehicles the attackers have.

Iirc, if you don’t fall back, you become visible to the entire enemy team. The way I do it is if I’m deep and know I can’t make it back, I just rush the enemies and try to take out as many as I can.

Both, I think. I believe the enemy gets bonus reinforcements if they kill people that don’t retreat.

If you do not retreat you will be on the entire enemy team mini map plus you will want to setup a defensive position b4 they have a chance to push, depending on the caliber of players that can be pretty quick

The objective becomes out of bounds.

It's only out of bounds if you spawn in the new objective area and try to push towards the previous section.

If you're in the overrun section, and don't retreat, you'll just show up on their map, which makes it easier for them to get the kill.

You get spotted to the whole team so the wave of people rushing to the next sector know where you’re hiding.

You might shoot one but there’s a gang of medics readyto revive them, and a bigger one hunting you down.

It negatively affects the team so stop doing it

How?

younghaze2337 · 23 Mar 2026 at 12:37 · permalink

Always retreat immediately, otherwise you are just helping the enemy lol. Killing people that don't retreat gives the attackers more tickets and more time to prepare for the next assault

The when it tells you to fall back, every kill the enemy makes before reaching the next sector gets 1 life added back to the attackers. So if they kill 20 of you before falling back, they get 20 bonus reinforcements for the next sector gets
