Lobbies filled with high ping players?

pearneko · 28 Aug 2026 at 14:10 · permalink

Never really had an issue with this up until recently but since last weekend my lobbies will have upwards of a half dozen high ping players. Tried turning crossplay off and all that did was make it so it took 5m+ to find games. Also appears it’s both console and pc players.

Normally the high ping itself wouldn’t be an issue but this is what I’ve encountered recently with those players:

\-rubberbanding movement
\-nonexistent hit reg
\-getting shot around corners / behind cover/ through smoke
\-instant melt ttk from them

Wondering if it’s me or if anyone else is experiencing this recently? Is there a new glitch that people are taking advantage of? Shrinking player base? Something else?

I’m located in Midwest North America, playing during peak hours. Has really made my games this week very un-fun.

its been around as long as networked gaming has been around. im curious how they are pulling it off without "smart" and "learning" anti-cheat features that never seem to catch them. i guess they just cry poor quality internet but that shouldn't be hard to disprove.

Same in Europe. Some times of the day are worse than other. Was in a game yesterday with half enemy team being high-ping players with Chinese-looking characters for names.

Had the same experience as you.

When I have high ping on the other hand, I can’t survive anything.

It's VPN abuse. I personally feel they should block use of VPNs in these types of games

I mean, some people feel like they should be blocked altogether...

VPN players, tend to be on the upper range of skill and make heavy use of desync by using mental movement/bunny hopping and guns like VSSM auto

Some guys are just trying to find a match

Just let the servers autokick anyone who consistently has 100+ ping. Let’s call it longer than 3 minutes to make sure it won’t nuke players who just have some momentary connection issue spike.

Problem solved. That is if anyone was interested in solving it.

I’ve notice my ping is high even tho I have good connection

I think 100 ping isn’t too bad to be honest. I think kicking players with 150+ would be fair. I play with friends from North America sometimes (I’m from Europe) and get 90-100ms there, same for them if they play on my servers.

Gross. Must be fairly easy to abuse because as I mentioned have encountered a very noticable uptick in these players.

I will say, this stuff occurs even when there are not high ping players...but probably not to the same extent.

Is this mostly a non-US issues or non-conquest issue? As I don't see it in conquest in the US, there's occasionally a player with 100+ ping at start, but it's usually not consistently high the whole round from what I've seen.

I’ve been playing mostly wake island attack & defend and breakthrough this week, and seems to be fairly prevalent in those modes. Was mostly playing escalation/conquest the last few weeks though and definitely don’t remember it being that bad.

Ohhh, VPN....i didn't realise this could be the reason. I have been having issues with high lingers and hitreg non existent. I'm not the most skilled player these days but definitely was something off with the netcode experience.

Thanks for the explanation...at least I know I wasn't going mad.

I was struggling earlier today, getting teams with 10 or more high ping players. Managed to get a few half decent games of 1.5kd+ but had a few where I just couldn't get going. One game in particular there were a few "SAGA" clan players with 120+ ping, not really seen them around before. That game was painful, I honestly just quit out and played something else.

Then tonight I saw a lot less high ping players and it flipped completely. Shots were landing, I had several games where I was 3+ kdr and top 1/4 of the leaderboard and one game in particular where I hit 45 kills and top of the board, with only the odd game where I was struggling. Only truly crap game was one with 2 attack helis and 1 little bird driving us back on mirak.

Looking at timezones (I'm UK based) I have to think it's far better playing on an evening/night here. Seems to weed out a lot of the high ping players. Going forwards if I play earlier in the day I might just quit out of any match where one side has a lot of them, it's just never fun. I really hope they get a filter or something.
