Play whatever you want

2042 was a pretty bad mess at release they've fixed the game a lot since release. But it's an outdated game now, it's not getting updated, and not getting any new content

So if you want a game that's actively being developed, BF6 is perfect

But if you want just a fun good boy experience, 2042 is good. 2042 is not the best game but it does have some interesting aspects to it. Bf6 is far more grounded and realistic than that of 2042.

why didn't you start with bf4 or 1

That's like asking if you can start Fortnite, there's no context to play it, 2042 is just a multiplayer game with no story mode and barely any lore. And anyway you can start with whatever game you like.

Battlefield 1

You can start with any Battlefield game. Some people will deep dive the lore and explain how they take place in the same world and how the events of one games story leads to another but hardly anyone cares about BF story. We play it for the multiplayer. If you want to play a modern day shooter game, play BF6. Near future tech with grappling hooks, wing suits, etc? 2042. World war 2? BFV. Just look into the setting of each game and think about what guns and vehicles you want to play with

You really need to start with Battlefield 1942

Both are COD inspired games. Your choice.

2042 is a decent shooter with a ton of arcade. Shit ton of vehicles, open maps, insane gadgets like flying bikes and wingsuits.

BF6 is a great shooter that's grounded with overall smaller but more detailed maps. More chaotic overall because of the boxed in nature, less vehicles. More focus on infantry

If you play 2042, go to Portal in the menus, and select any Breakthrough server. The same goes for V as well. The maps are uni-directional (the action flows in one direction) and is much easier to get a hang of the gameplay and mechanics without being assaulted from 7 different directions.

You'll hear that 2042 had a lot of issues for the early phase of its life, however, most of those have been fixed. The problem is that much of the playerbase has moved to 6, or went back to 1 and V. 2042 has its own unique gameplay and you' can get a lot of fun out of it.

The best way to enjoy any BF game though, is with a friend or two. It greatly adds to the experience.

Battlefield 2042 maintains an active player base with approximately 1,000–1,200 concurrent players on Steam. So you can play it but you might be playing against more bots than people. Even though it was a clusterfuq at the beginning, they did fix a lot of it and there is a lot of value in the game now.

BF6 is probably the better option though. It's got way more players on it and it's still evolving. I personally prefer the game play on it as well, but that's subjective. You like what you like. But ya, you should be able to get BF2042 for a really good price now if that's a concern. If money isn't an issue, I'd go BF6. But up to you..

I recently bought 2042 and I haven't play it much, it is my favorite when I played it on playstation so I bought it on PC but nowadays there is only one server that gets populated and in my area it has an extremely high ping. I would suggest you to try other battlefields that have a more higher player count

2042 rocks

Both games are great, I would go by the cover in this case

I'd recommend starting with 2042 if you're okay with some outdated mechanics since it's playable now, but BF6 will likely feel more polished when it launches.
