I used to play ET competitively when it came out years ago

Anyone from that time lurking around?

competitive ET became more active since around COVID. I would say its mostly of players that play ET for long time

there aren't really clans, community is tighter, people know each other and play pick-up gathers and sometimes draft cups, NCs, ... and LANs :)

If you watch the streams you should recognize some names. What was your name back then and with who did you play or in what team? There are various discord servers for competitive gathers and cups. Here is a invite to one of the comp discords https://discord.gg/f8TNGvZ3X

That’s amazing - thanks I’ll check it out. I played competitively CS, Q3, Unreal and FEAR but RTCW/ET was the game I had the most fun with.

Our team was called FrageveR (FR) and my name was Kher and the lead was ceced. I don’t think I’ll be able to recognise individual names but team clan perhaps. I tried searching the internet for archive but I guess everything disappeared when clanbase died.

If you are American then check out the Frag Center discord. Still active pickups and alot of the competitive NA history is saved

I’m European but I do remember how competitive the US was. Once we joined the US qualification for quakecon but we didnt go very far (the lag to the US servers didn’t help)

I remember that our team would just type „Med- looking for 6v6” in IRC and had a game in 2 minutes. Simple times :)

Well, I was at a competetive level, so I played private matches with a lot of competetive people and "pros", well many of them got money and played on teams. But I only joined for private matches, had too much performance anxiety at real matches, so I didn't enjoy that part. :D Pub stomping or private high ranked matches on mIRC oer whatever the hell it was called. :D Thing is, I had a bunch of different names over time, and constantly changed names for fun. xD I guess you're an old fella like me then, I'm 39. :D I did follow the scene back then, but sooo long ago, don't remember much. Remember with a couple of those I played most with, we made a pub stomping unofficial clan, where we was Disco or something? White and pink names, and I might have called myself Fry.. From Futurama. xD Not 100 percent on that one though, holy shit, lifetime ago!!

Would be amazing if you were one of the Disco guys, you from EU? :D

Missed those TWL & CAL days, then watching Eurocup on weekends

My player name was Minkop back then. I wasn’t much good but I sure loved it

Nothing is stopping you from playing it. It's still active daily through various mods as well. Check et.trackbase.net and etlegacy.com for servers and game.
