Quake 2 Horde Mode

Sometimes I play Quake 2 (remastered on Steam) and in the deathmatch games there is sometimes a really cool horde mode - it looks like a normal deathmatch level in the "join game" list, but when you play its a coop horde shooter. But quite often its not there to join.

Does anyone know more about this horde mode? I would love to play more of it.

Yeah the quake 1 horde mode is great! The quake 2 horde mode seems to be some kind of unique server/game setup that some servers let you play, rather than an actual game mode - but if you can find it, I highly recommend - it's much better than the quake 1 horde mode imo!

I remember making a test map using a dll Paril was working on late 2023. I had a stroke in January 2024 so I have no idea what happened to it.I think he moved on to the psx mod. Im sure the old dll and his test map are in an archived channel on the map-center discord.

the Bloody Blastard server is almost always running horde iirc

You are talking about Horde Beta made by Enemy. He took Paril's .dll and expanded upon it. You can find the mod files here, the source code here and he has a project page for it over at the Map-Center Discord.
