My son and I are looking for a particular map.

My son and I are hoping to revisit one of our most favorite places.

Way back when, we had twin computer systems and a lot of mods. We're thinking it was around 2005 or so.

My son's memory is fuzzy because he was young at the time. Mine is fuzzy because I'm old now.

Those systems are long gone and so is the data they contained.

We are starting again, from scratch, and we would like to revisit old, familiar places.

What we remember is:

* Two large towers at opposite sides of the map.

* On top of them were ellipses that looked like eyes.

* If my memory serves, I seem to recall being able to look into a portal entrance to see through the corresponding eye and see the bulk of the map from above.

* Stepping into the portal will take you into the Eye itself.

We're fairly sure that the map had dark skies. We're thinking that it was a Space map.

We're hoping that someone who has been there before can help us find our way back.

It was far more popular on Unreal than it was Quake, though I do think it was ported to Quake3 at one point or another.

The tops of the towers in the one we're searching for had large energy spheres that looked kinda like the eye of Sauron; one for blue, one for red. From the flag base, you could see the playing field through those eyes/portals.

I really appreciate you helping us search. This means a lot to my son; and therefore to me.

Yeah, I did that before I replied. That's not it. These were more like big, glowing energy balls that could hold several players at once. Pretty close, though.

This map was actually a part of a mappack Called x3maps. Absolutely loved this map on ThreewaveCTF mod and was without a doubt one of my favourite MODs along with RA3(rocket arena)!

I'm pleased to have experienced that reality with you even if we weren't there at the same time.

It kinda feels like home in my household.
