Quake 3 version on steam

gudym · 10 Sep 2026 at 04:22 · permalink

I play quake 3 on an old cd and I have problems connecting to some servers because my version doesn't match the server's. If I buy and start playing quake 3 on steam, will I have the same problem, or can I play on any server there is without a problem?

hey buddy, check this out: https://ioquake3.org/

no need to buy another copy of a game. all you'll need is your original pak0.pk3 file.

If you're having problems connecting then you're either missing the mod the server uses or they're not patched to current. Using 1.17n is very common for NoGhost(instagib) servers and freezetag servers, most FFA servers use 1.32, CPMA servers will use 1.32 and CPMA 1.48.
