Maybe hot take?

Wolfensteins story should've ended with TNO.

TNC is a good game but I've hated it story wise, BJ survives a granade, ok? Then getting his head chopped off, and getting revived, all just WAY too much plot armor.

There is almost rarily a piece of media where the main character just dies. It's not common, BJ heroically dying at the end of TNO would've been the coolest shit ever. Now I know some people might say "but we wouldn't know what happened after, did the resistance win/lose bla bla", here is my proposal, a diffrent wolfenstein sequel, starts exactly after TNO ended, but BJ actually DIES. And you play for fergus or Wyatt (depending what u choose), wouldn't that be way cooler than BJ surviving impossibly dumb scenarios?

I like this idea tbh. There was a lot I didn't rate about TNC, especially the new character models, which I think look too unlike the older ones. TOB was a great prequel and had some fun with the classic Wolfenstein DNA with supernatural stuff and that I think went really well with how it was stylised. Despite all that, I'd agree that things got a bit too silly in TNC.

I really was not a fan of ret-conning out a load of stuff from the earlier two games, like how weapons behaved, how they look, and the enemies you face. We're supposed to believe that the nazis just made an entirely different set of armour, robots, weapons and vehicles, just in America, with deaths head and his lab (the mastermind behind the nazi's R&D) blown to bits in just a few months?? It's like they just cleaned the slate and made a new unrelated game, if it weren't for the characters you might think it was.

A robot powered by the consciousness of a dead man, ancient Jewish magic, and creating a colony on the Moon in 1961 is okay, but I draw the realism line at surviving a grenade. This is a man who after a decade and a half or so of not moving at all suddenly massacres an asylum full of Nazis with a slight calf issue.

One the one hand, I kinda agree, it's like TNO worked well so they wanted to do more games and BJ was already an iconic character so a sequel with him would sell more for sure.

But on the other hand... Engel chopping his head so they rescue the head and install it on a mannequin is completely based if you ask me.

I can forgive unvegetablizing yourself at the mere presence of nazis, but i draw the line at unvegetablizing yourself at the mere presence of nazis a second time.

I agree 100%, perhaps I’m biased because I liked the older titles but I enjoy New Order and Old Blood so much more than 2 and Youngblood. The gameplay of 2 is cool but the story was mid.

I’m critical of the ending of TNO as it is, I don’t favor having the grenade scene happen at all. BJ wouldn’t have to do the personal kill, just nuke the scummy bastard.

But as for TNC, yeah I miss the sniper rifle and laser rifle upgrade tbh. But also, nukes everywhere, why wouldn’t they just nuke the U.S. as soon as it was liberated? Did we develop a shield we don’t see? So many gaps in the plot.

Also picking up that battle carrier on top of the nuke sub, did we reverse engineer both to build a fleet of these ships? Did we take control of the Moon and Venus bases?

Its about damage to a body, not buildings or magic, its not exaclty about Realism either.
If someone Finished playing TNO before TNC was even a thing, they would just think "wow what an emotional ending." Wolfenstein isnt realistic in any was but its CLEAR bj was supposed to die originally, its not even hinted that he is going to survive or anything. Also, Death head was like 50cm away from BJ, death head dies, gets ripped to pieces, but BJ dosent? And not only that not even a limb or something is missing, and as much as I know, grenades are just as effective if it explodes in your Hand or right next to you.

I never thought we’d get a sequel honestly. I’ve mellowed toward TNC, and I really like it now. But i remember not liking at the time

how is me using the most common short form for a word, contributing anything about the take? Also, simply disagreeing is a sign of weak Intellengence, not even being able to put up a reason to why you disagree.

It's definitely hinted that BJ is rescued at the end of TNO. You hear the helicopter approaching at the end of the credits.
