sniper changes are outrageous

xxzzzzzxx · 2 Jul 2026 at 17:42 · permalink

this update is the dumbest thing ever regarding snipers, how is it possible for the mini scout to deal 30 something damage at long range, esr 40 something?when literally any small strafe or erratic movement counters sniper completely even the even bigger drag and bullet velocity are completely unjustified, it just proves that they just want to mimic COD even more by not allowing long range, which was already visible at launch when the biggest scope there was was just the 10x, they completely butchered skillfull sniping which is literally part of the core identity of the battlefield series, anybody agreeing with the sniper changes should just try to hit a shot over 200 m which isnt a standing still engie or sniper

I rarely play sniper and I tried today on Golmund and holy crap. I see why there are so few snipers. The velocity is way too slow. THe scoout in game is using 556 which should be closer to 800-950 Ms in realistic terms depending on barrel length and the round used. I feel like Assault rfles outclass snipers in marksman duties due to them being able to be fired way quicker. XD

Look at it this way.
If they were to go with realistic metrics, all the maps in every game would be too small and you wouldn't see the bullets, let alone barely the tracers whatsoever. Take the .50 for example, that's meant to be for long range engagements of 800-1500m. Show me a map where our IFVs, jeeps, MBTs, MATVs and MRAPs are engaging infantry and other lightly armored vehicles at that range consistently with a clear view.
I'll answer that, they're not. Most engagements are sufficient enough for the 5.56 and 7.62 caliber. Which is the SAW and 240b crow systems you see on the vehicles. Those are decent at 500-1km.
Most AT4s, RPGs, you're seeing those fired within 300-500m. Javelins have some serious range.
Many carbines and rifles can be fired effectively at 500-800m but most engagements are going to be within 300m if not closer.
Marksmen are rarely firing at 800-1km in a war zone. And if they are, they've been sitting in their position for a looooooooooong time, waiting. They're not doing it on the fly. Because on the battlefield, random events can cause all sorts of issues and trust me, you're not going to be able to see 800-1km unless you're on a mountain top, looking at another mountain top and guess what, those shots take some serious skill and not many people in the world can hit those shots.
Nowadays, all you have to do is watch some Ukraine footage and you'll ♥♥♥♥ yourself over FPVs and the 10-20m trench footage. Hard pass, Afghanistan was enough for me.

1. Don't do long range sniping. It is pointless anyway
2. Aim for the head
Boom, problems solved!

Headshot allday , it's still 1 shot in base game and 2 in redsec.
It does suck to hit arms/legs as they are moving for 12-30 damage but Try to focus on headshots, which as a sniper you should be doing anyways!
Mini scout is my home lol only sweet spot is the head.

buhuu poor Sniper...... what about Assault Riffle Headshots not deadly or lmg needs 3-5 Headshots ?

Boris_1x · 20 Jul 2026 at 06:20 · permalink

I'd argue the game feels better with the changes. Less people sitting in spawn doing nothing.

"skillful sniping"... oh come on!
Maybe dont sit in the backline and play the PTFO.

Rifle_Rook · 20 Jul 2026 at 08:15 · permalink

honestly the sniper change/vehicule nerf in redsec is truly ridiculous , doesn't feel like battlefield anymore.
just another cod copy.
i'm glad they nerfed heavy heli tho , that one was toxic af

as if longrange sniping wasnt always a trademark for battlefield, i understand the bias that because a lot of people sit with sniper in spawn it is better this way,but i disagree because i also saw good sniper players and i regularly hit 50+ kills on an open map from which a large majority are enemy snipers so "no impact" but killing enemy snipers still helps the team denying the enemies even the possibility of shooting teammates/surpressing etc...
and i wouldnt say longrange is useless, having a sniper constantly shooting the enemies on the point you re trying to capture really makes a difference, a lot of people are salty about snipers once again because they dont know how to strafe and instead of actually learning the game they rather just nerf them to the ground and hit their chest and say "well you dont headshot so its deserved" when most of the cases its really hard doing so even if thats where you re aiming constantly, come on guys in every major bf title IT WAS ALWAYS 2 BODYSHOT you cant justify the change, plus the farther you are away from the sniper the easier it is to strafe

As a breakthrough player, the problem isn't just 1 sniper sitting back and doing that. That wouldn't be an issue. It's 8-12 snipers doing it. As an attacker only type player, that is an issue. Since most objectives sit near the uncap line, or in relative vicinity of, this means the uncap line has a steady resupply of reinforcements camping it on top of the objective having a steady resupply of reinforcements holding it defensively. So you take those 8-12 individuals that are just sitting back and sniping, that's 50% of the team on most maps not pushing the point. Take another 4-6, sometimes 8 that are just there to shoot into the point to farm their KD as support and that's another quarter of the team.
That means, on many breakthrough matches, you have maybe a squad of people total trying to take an objective against 8, 12, or even the entire team of 24-32 players. That's 4 people, sometimes 6 people depending on map size. And when someone speaks up on it, you know what most people bring up? KD. "Bro, your KD sucks, shut up." "Hey, 3-7, shut up" There's gotta be quite a good bit amount of brain cells missing to understand why.

Balance is all the way.
I just alt + f4 in moment when enemy survived 2 headshots from CARABINE at 17m range.
I mean, at this point I can throw rocks at them and expect same output.

They butchered mini scout, ttk is terrible in the game where they continue to protect the SCW-10 and other similar SMGs and the list goes on. At this point, I gave up. It is crystal clear that devs from BF4 are no longer there.
