The 100 points attachment system is very flawed.

Apart from being a straight ripoff COD, I absolutely despite this points system about how you only have 100 points to dump between a grip, a magazine, a sight, and a barrel. In 2042 and the previous games, each attachment had its own pros and cons.
-Suppressors would keep you off minimaps but reduce velocity
-Extended barrels would increase velocity but decrease ADS time
-Laser sights would improve hip fire accuracy but give away your position
The result was a brilliant and strategic Tetris styled system of "make the build that's just right for you." In 6, they ditched that in favor of a points system. A thermal scope is worth 25 out of 100 points because "we feel like it." Suppressors range form 20 to 30 points because.... reasons. A 27 (that's such a strange number) round magazine is worth 45 points in a KV9. WHAT THE HELL? This is just half effort excuse of "you do the balancing for yourself.'
The result is a carefully curated meta of YTers telling players what attachments to use for each gun. Everyone rocks the same build now. You nerf one gun? Everyone moves onto the next most powerful meta and the next and so on and so forth. It's very poorly designed. There's no variety. VSSM and VCR are now pointless to use ever because of the points for some of the attachments are so expensive and the precision is so low.
The best thing to do is to just get rid of the points system outright and bring back pros/cons to every attachment. Large magazines should decrease ADS and increase reload times. Suppressors should keep you off minimaps but decrease range. Thermal scopes are great for spotting enemies but can't see through windows and have glare. Why wouldn't they use this system? It's damn near perfect, makes the most amount of sense and requires the least amount of future balancing. Or redo some of the costs and balancing. Nothing should be worth more than 20 points.

I agree, and to top it all off we don’t even have thermals, I have no clue what this is called but it’s some pixelated unrealistic non existent mess.
There was a meme/myth that everyone believes which started on Facebook upon release of this game that this is how cheap thermals look, but that is not true.
And no military would use these thermals.
Lookup the Estonian youtubers FalconClaw to see how cool and good real thermals look like.
They are not pixelated.
They even tested super cheap ones and even they were not pixelated.
And btw we have never had an official statement from EA/DICE (also NOT separate entities since 2006) that the fact that they can’t see through windows would ever be a gameplay balancing mechanic.
Most likely they just shrugged it off as so and agreed to keep it for balance because it emerged as an AI vibe coded glitch mcbug.
Just like this whole new season which is a very well written prompt which took several seconds to write and prompt AI to hastily generate. 👏🏻

Don't forget that by using a controller input, it's reducing your recoil by 10%, so that's effectively adding like 25 points to each weapon passively for a total of 125/100 compared to a kbm input. Which, lets face it, a clear advantage stat wise.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe it's called "white hot thermals" which work off infrared. The more widely known rainbow thermals catches layers of heat commonly referred to as thermals (that's the older stuff). The newer stuff the US military uses is the multispectral goggles which combines light amplification with thermals.

I think it's the netcode that makes it feel like controller guy are hacking. I was invited to the BF6 beta and it was hard playing on PS5 with controller. You really have to be good to dominate on controller and even then the KBM will still annihilate controller with autoaim. The thing is that console dudes are shooting you before you even see them... thats netcode.

Agreed. I dislike this system. Either go back to Bf4 or oddly....BF2042 system, where we can equip like 2-3 items per gun and switch on the fly mid match depending on the situation.

2042's Crysis styled loadout system was made out of convenience instead of having to redeploy, lose a life, and put on different attachments but 2042 haters aren't ready to talk about that yet.

I'm not talking about the aim assist, I'm talking about recoil. Controller has built in recoil reduction. It's in literal patch notes. You can look it up. May 8th. The aim assist has nothing to do with recoil. Recoil, which foregrips and buttstocks generally take care of, is an additional bonus while using a controller.
With that knowledge, IF you use a controller, it's as if you have a bumper stock on ALL weapons passively. What you're describing is aim assist. I was in the BF6 alpha as well as the closed beta. I played with kbm. Didn't bother touching controller. However, before the May 8th patch, the recoil reduction was at 20-25% from Oct 10th to May 8th. From May 8th to Present day, it's currently 10%. Anyone can tell you that 10% is a significant amount compared to 0% when it comes to input while playing an FPS game.

I know about that too. And I totally believe you. Still didn't make a difference at least for me when I played on controller. You should do your own test on controller and see how you feel. If the advantage is that great, you will stay on controller but you will go back to using KBM same as me. Console dudes can have their 10% autoaim. It's nowhere near as significant as you think. It's the netcode that's their biggest advantage.

Hey, folks.
There are a few different conversations going on here, but they all tie back to weapon customization and how different systems shape the overall experience.
Some of you would rather see attachment choices revolve around gameplay trade-offs rather than a points budget; others have been talking about how optics like thermals fit into that balance; and there's also been discussion about how different inputs feel after recent weapon-handling changes.
It's helpful to see those perspectives together because they all come back to the same question: what makes building a weapon feel rewarding without making every loadout look the same?
For those of you who would change the system, what's the biggest priority? More viable build variety, different attachment costs, or a return to stronger pros-and-cons for each attachment?

Can you guys just once go against the NPC programming and stop saying "it's like COD"... like my brother in Christ, Cod was not the first game that had loadout and attachment system, just full stop.
Otherwise I agree... but this sht on repeat needs to stop.

My brother in Christ, this is a strawman argument.
I've never said nor have I ever heard anyone say "weapon attachments = COD clone" even though COD4 was the first online shooter to do this. What I said was the 100 point weapon attachment system feels a lot like COD because it's super unique to COD and I believe MW2019 was the first to do this and everyone else followed because they want to steal the COD audience.
Continually, there's the 3 lane, multiple angle, small map design that COD is popular for. There's also the faster, twitchier movement, and heavier emphasis on small engagements rather that traditionally large sandbox warfare that COD is also known for. The battlepass progression, the blueprint systems, I could go on and on. None of that stuff individually makes BF6 a COD clone but all together, it's definitely trying to be like COD, wouldn't you say?

I personally miss the Crysis styled "on the fly" weapon attachment system that BF2042 had. I know there's a snowball's chance in hell of getting it back because you guys want to distance BF6 from 2042 and that's fine. It was convenient to use rather than having to redeploy and lose a life.
Could we at least reevaluate some of the attachment costs in BF6? A thermal scope shouldn't be 25-35 points. It comes with its own pros and cons like not being able to see through windows or glare which could blind you from enemies. It should be 20 points maximum. Back in 2042 I noticed that not a lot of people used thermals either.
A 27 round mag shouldn't be 45 points for the KV9. Make it 30 rounds, and drop it to 20 points. This might make it overpowered so just increase the recoil or decrease the precision. The gun is only useful on small maps. It couldn't hide the broadside of a barn on Golmud.
Low Profile Stubby grip at 45 points? Great reduces recoil and enables faster ADS at the cost of speed and accuracy? Ridiculous too. I don't think anyone uses this. Not in a single meta video or otherwise. IDK.
Personally I would drop the points system entirely or give players more points to work with. VSS/VCR are absolutely gimped and not worth using ever unless they get some buffs.
Thanks for reading if you got this far. Love the new Reef map.

BF is not about realism and good thermals would be a detriment to the game.
The window "bug" is most likely just a game limitation since windows tend to be objects so going through the additional effort of trying to make thermals work properly while viewing through transparent surfaces would add nothing except more attachment balance considerations to the developers.

Personally, I liked 2042's weapon/mod system. And if it moved to this BF, it would improve it by quite a bit. Being able to swap your sight, grip, ammo type (magazine) and barrel attachment on the fly while still alive was indispensable. And if they combined magazines and ammo into one category, that would probably save on a ton of "points" for the weapon as well.
For example, it's what, 10 for lightweight pen? And then we'll say 5 for a 30 round? Combine the 2 and say it's 10 points total for a 30 round lightweight pen mag.
Just was way simpler in 2042 having premade magazines already of green tip, pen, subsonic, etc and your choice of 30, 36, 45, 60 rounds. And on top of that, depending on ammo type, you wouldn't have tracers and could do damage to MBTs/IFVs if you had pen equipped. You can't do that in BF6. Penetration ammo in BF6 is shoot through multiple people to get your socks off with KD and that's the wrong answer if you ask me.

The hot swap system ruined the entire point of having a weapon build since attachments could just be changed on demand whenever the situation demanded it.
Having access to a magnifier is one thing but changing from a red dot to a 4x and conjuring additional magazines was not a good concept.
