But there are ways to not get throttled, ignoring resistance, sometimes even immunity in rare occasions, applying conditions, etc...

how is wildfire considered a fire mage? it is all about your summon.

Spirit guardians is cleric exclusive and has other conditionsit is easier to hit multiple with a circle than a line.

the damage numbers are usually higher, most common outlier is fireball.so it is balanced out, higher damage, more resistances.
