We wanted to take the time to explain our approach to anticheat solutions for Battlefield 2042. We are committed to our
Positive Play
Charter, aiming to create a positive gaming environment. As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance Anticheat and Fair Play, Secure Boot is now a requirement to play Battlefield 2042 on PC.
This supports the need for enhanced security while playing and utilizing new anticheat features in Battlefield. As cheat developers continue to evolve their tactics, we're stepping up our game too.
Requiring Secure Boot provides us with features that we can leverage against cheats that attempt to infiltrate during the Windows boot process. It also lets the Battlefield Positive Play team use its own features and related dependent security features like TPM (Trusted Platform Module, which is a dedicated security chip on a computer's motherboard) to combat other forms of cheating and related techniques, the most relevant of which include:
Kernel-Level Cheats and Rootkits
Memory Manipulation and Injection
Spoofing and Hardware ID Manipulation
Virtual Machines and Emulation
Tampering with Anticheat Systems
Any attempt to access Battlefield 2042 without Secure Boot enabled will result in a prompt indicating its necessity and being unable to launch the game. Players that use hardware that does not support Secure Boot will still be able to launch Battlefield 2042.
Secure Boot is available for Windows 11 and Windows 10 devices, and if you’re running a newer system it might already be enabled automatically. For more information on enabling this feature, refer to this EA Help article.
https://help.ea.com/en/help/pc/secure-boot/
In addition to utilizing Secure Boot to help us, our Anticheat System (EA Javelin Anticheat) is customizable and offers a unique and modular approach for Battlefield and other EA FPS games. Javelin has been built from the ground up by a team of veteran engineers and analysts who were specifically hired to focus on cheating problems for each game under EA’s umbrella and design unique features to address those issues. They work alongside our Battlefield Positive Play team to refine the data, insight, and tools necessary to ensure equitable play for all our players across our Battlefield Studios titles.

It gives you no leverage against cheats at all, cheats can still be ran and its not that hard to bypass secure boot on your personal system and trick it into running whatever you want specially if you just flash the bios to a older version and get your hands on the leaked keys...
To really get on top of cheaters you need game modderators jumping in and out of servers but that would mean you spend money....
Plus BF has been bad for ages I remember in the old days you'd actually ship the server software with the game so we could easily setup and host our own matches without forcing us into paying yet again....

Will this stop the crash to desktop every 45 minutes? Haven't seen any cheaters though, just crash to desktop.

Why all of a sudden add it as a requirement? The game came out almost 4 years ago and now people won't be able to play. My pc is compatible, but given that no other game I play requires it, nor do I think it is safe, I no longer can play it. Maybe just keep it to BF6 and let people play BF2042 without issue.

This works for any game including BATTLEFIELD 2024 and Battlefield 6. It's dumb that they made this requirement in the first place though

Only works if you have the boot loader installed on the right type of partition otherwise its a case of converting or formatting something no game should require.

You want me to do BIOS level system adjustments for Electronic Arts anti-cheat software? I've been gaming without any issue for 20 years and you want me to do BIOS level adjustments to my system for you?

I was so hyped after learning battlefield 6 is coming out, i re-downloaded Battlefield2045 to play and was met with secure boot error on top of force installing EA app. So now i have to go through all this just to play ur game, give u bios lvl access for ur anti cheat and stuff, there are many PVP games and none have ever asked this kind of permission, what makes u thing u can force players to take this type of action and restrict them from playing the game they HAVE PAYED FOR.
I was so ready to buy Battlefield 6, Good i came to know about it after re-downloading B2045 or els i would have bought B6 and regretted after seeing this no chance i give u any more of my money, to hell with B6 and B2045, uninstalling NOW.

seems EA just ruined this game for me, i was running just fine like a few months back, now all of the sudden oh i have to change a bios setting on my PC just to run the game? bigger companies are ruining games from denuvo (which requires offline games to need tokens to keep running offline) or games that require external launchers to run correctly and or changing a PC bios setting = trash from developers. man games were so much better when it was plug and play on a disc or just download the game from store and play offline or online stress free, thinking about uninstalling all EA, ubisoft and rockstar games and basically dont support them

Game improved a lot after Secure Boot.
Usually there was 1 cheater per map.
