Totally lost my appetite for EA Games

Wasted a couple of Euros on this pile of crap on Epic.
System requirements say 100GB, so I figured I could squeeze it onto my fastest SSD with ~120GB free. Nope! Insufficient disk space, because it needs 30% more space than “recommended,” like the numbers were just there for decoration.
The real problem and the fatal flaw is the anti-cheat garbage that requires Secure Boot, because apparently EA’s idea about Positive Play and fighting cheaters means violating my privacy and demanding I pull my pants down, bend over, and stick my butt in the air for their convenience.
The Trusted Platform Module on my PC is OFF and it will stay OFF. The companies behind TPM have shown time and again that they cannot be trusted, and their main concern is definitely not my privacy - it is to explore how far they can go with turning all of us into additional profit.
Until EA drops their rootkit-style anti-cheat they stay on my blacklist. Fortunately, this game is already in such big decline that I only wasted a couple of Euros on it. This is not about the money - it is a principle matter: I do not want to support a company that has no concern for the privacy or best interest of its customers.

Out of all the awful things EA does and is infamous for, I honestly couldn't care less about TPM/Secure Boot being a requirement. Currently have 1.2k hours on BF2042 and still playing.

TPM 2.0 is not a real requirement, just an hardware indication, while 'Secure Boot' is mandatory to load up their Javelin anti-cheat and has even become essential for other games

even 30 years ago, running a stable PC environment was never easy, and today it becomes more complex .. would not surprise me if people need to fulfill a driving license to run a computer or any device nowadays, it is a harsh world

just the beginning .. 20 years ago .. currently various OS'es and various firmwares become more hardened and critical system files more isolated, and china hardware globally banned, next step is the next-gen and highly advanced encryption to be released, this will be huge news in about 2~ years and again a next era in IT begins, while you are still 15~20 years behind and perhaps also still running obsoleted HDDs on Windows 7

You clearly didn’t read what I wrote. The disk space discussion is not me whining about money or hardware limits; that is you inventing a take that was not there, then talking down to me about it.
And the core issue you are dodging is consent: you treat Secure Boot/TPM enforcement as an unquestionable “mandatory security layer,” while I am explicitly saying I am not turning it on. Again, not a money question for you to patronize me with.
I am not “missing the security angle” - It is about consent, plain and simple. Your response does not address that. It is just you trying to bully me into doing what you think is “essential” while pretending that my refusal is ignorance. If I don’t trust the company or the core premise of TPM, I am not going to be forced into it by silly anti-cheat demands or moralizing from you or EA. nothing changes the fact as the Secure Boot mandatory stays, started for a various of mentioned games in last year, and continues to grow as this first security layer is not just a first but an additional blockage against cheater, and not to mention about the general and major security layer and safety for corporations and (research) facilities, especially to machines which have access to the internet or to a gateway.
Secure Boot does not intrude in your privacy, the exact opposite fact is happening as it hardens your privacy AND safety and security, a feature and security layer which has existed for nearly 20 years already. see it as a firewall before booting up your OS

cheating tools do run under RING-0 while even can be malware and root-kits to intrude your privacy and steal personal data, so anticheat tools need to run under RING-0, too, to fight this. as easy at that

We talk about RING-0 ?? well, cheating has moved from software tools to hardware devices . . . a whole fresh new column .. to fight cheater, then in where Secure Boot comes by and even helps to prevent to boot up root-kit firmwares as cheating hardware and software in our current example ... RING-0 becomes superseded by latest next-gen cheating tools, cheating hardware devices which loads up way earlier than RING-0
your best bet and hope in this case will be as EA changes their mind to expand and grant Javelin for Linux, and that is it. Secure Boot stays

Secure Boot has become mandatory for Windows 11 24H2+, 26H2 rolls out soon while 24H2 becomes shut-down, .. and even will become mandatory for modern Linux OS as well ..

even if you buy a new (pre-fab) PC or laptop, Secure Boot is already enabled as standard as a "default" factory setting. we need to move way back in time in where Secure Boot was "not" enabled as standard, and that is during the Windows 7 era and early Windows 8.x era. so your hardware must be that old, logically, not just for you alone but for everyone else who complain about this Secure Boot "feature".
if you had bought a fresh Windows 10 machine about 10+ years ago, Secure Boot was enabled already as a standard factory setting, see mentioned hardware complexity above

we can say as an indication as a hardware default: ~95.2% run AVX2, 95% of Steam users run Secure Boot by default, you guys who complain are a minority ..
