I loved BF2 playing against bots is this game worth it at all? It has terrible reviews. I'm not sure $3 is a good offer?

It is.
Despite what haters say, gameplay-wise & tech-wise it's the best BF since 3, 4 (excl. BF 1).
Bots aren't great, but servicable.

yes it's a good game despite what people say. i feel like people who complained are the ones who played at launch when the game had bugs but now the game is pretty much complete and fine. it is crossplay but i don't know if you'll find players now, it might be dead since a lot of people went to bf6, especially in the 128 player mode when it's a region lock game with no server browser. even on bf6 with 30k players i got in one match with the same people i remember from this game.
battlefield 6 is also on sale you can try that too, probably won't be on sale again for a few months. i have played both and i would say bf2042 is better when it comes to the bigger maps and vehicles especially heli's you can barely fly one in bf6 without lock on spam and it feels like a heavy rock. try it out though.
Edit: i just realized you said against bots, well if you want to play against bots that's fine too. also check out Battlefield V that game is also good and i know for sure that game still have people playing it. it has a server browser unlike the newer battlefields.

BF 2042 in it's prime really was the last true BF. Sure, even in a sense that half of a playerbase never revived or dropped an ammo bag for their life, but still - the other half made the game worth playing. Sadly I've read that ppl left the game in droves after BF 6 :(
And ♥♥♥♥ me, I miss the scenes of 60 dudes just rushing the points in the blaze of glory, golden hour sun and fumes of all the vehicles... against other 60 dudes.

ı just refunded bf6 bcz it was absolute garbage are servers still active in this i want to play i used to play alot with gamepass enjoyed it very much

Thanks for the great advice everyone. Some people seemed to misunderstand that I meant only with bots. But your feedback was still funny and I totally get it. So thanks still. I may get this game I may not. It would have to be a decent sale.
I bought it because... Well it's on for $5 not going to get much better then that. I can refund within the first 2 hours or two weeks. Thanks again for helping.

BF6 I have about 550 hours of gameplay. It’s the worst of all BFs in terms of sounds, sound locations, weapon sounds, and gunfight quality. By going back to BF 2042 today, he is clearly superior in every respect since all the updates. If BF6 has so many players, believe me they are in Battle Royal, all the conquest servers are full of bots.
