What is up with the matchmaking to constantly throw me in lobbies with single digit players waiting for matches to start, I can rarely ever find a match that is either solidly filled or in progress

1 - turn Crossplay ON. It is a necessity because it's a binary choice: either you play in crossplay servers or not, 99,5 % of players play in crossplay servers.
2 - servers are getting filled to the brim and THEN they populate new lobbies so the game will attempt to throw you into any non-full (but with a lot of players) server first. Then if it can't find one (all full) it throws you into an empty one. But as almost noone waits there's a moment when you have X full servers (that get insta-refilled anytime someone leaves and someone matchmakes) and not enough other players hopping into matchmaking and stickling to a server until it fills the server's minimal quota to start the game.
3 - if it's not one of the above, then your internet connection is too weak \ too isolated (highly secured NAT) to be able to connect you into a normal matchmaking.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'm guessing doing a quick google search for 3 minutes is harder than spouting "scam" bullsh!t. Get your act together.

My NAT type isnt restricted at all, ive had that issue before in other games when I noticed and was able to resolve that, and I do have crossplay on, I always make sure its enabled in games that have them thankfully.
Whats really strange is that my first match of the session always seems to find either max pop, or high pop lobbies which works out really well, and either directly after, or a couple of games in, Im stuck with >16 player lobbies untill I quit and relaunch the game. Really funky matchmaking.

I have this issue all the time to Nat type is not restricted crossplay on I’m currently sitting in a lobby now with 1 pc player. Something weird is going on. I have checked forums many times about this issue I always find people bringing this issue up but I never really resolved.

"Battlebit Remastered" - probably ok for people who don't care about aesthetics. I do.
BF2, BFBC2, BF3, BF4 - dead in the water.
BF3 is my favorite game, but there is no point in keeping it installed it if it's only 1-3 maps in rotation.
BF4 - was eternal Golmud the last time I run it. On all servers.
At east BF6, with all its faults, has active map rotation and healthy player base.
