Apparently it's a known bug that's been happening for the past 12 days at least... Seems a bit sketchy it's not resolved yet.

same problem. after latest update i cant join the game. most of the time they make an update they crash the game. what a smart guys out there. why do i have to do something each time you make an update, ( in fact you cant) ? are you planning to fix the poblem or let the game die?

I've found a work around of sorts. When selecting the mode for solo/coop press the button to select the map don't let it pick random. I've noticed if you pick a map you have a better chance of it working. Some maps work some times others other times. Very weird glitch we have here but I hope this helps someone as I've been playing since the issue started on April 20th
