BF 6 is actually CoD with vehicles in disguise. It's as messed up and less polished, as well.
BF 2042 is really good, but it has a much lower playerbase, sadly. At this price tho...
I'd say go for it.

I own both and have a good amount of playtime on both.
Bf6 if CoD is more your speed. Vehicle play is almost non existant, no naval stuff, maps are just bite sized compared to previous battlefield games. If you liked call of duty's ground war mode, then this is the game you want.
2042 if you want a battlefield experience, bigger maps, 128 players, vehicles are fun to use, more content, more polish, can be played with bots entirely alone if you want.
Both games have battlefield in the title but play very different.

BF6 100% I've played both over 300 hrs on ps5. 2042 was no where near as bad as it was made out to be, but BF6 is for sure the better game.

2042 is better for me. BF6 is playing very poorly, the worst battlefield of all time. The only thing worse is the hardline. It's a pity that 2042 has such a low online due to a misunderstanding called BF6.

2042 has a significant variety of vehicles that are fun to use and control well. BF6 feels like COD MW2019 GroundWar with limited Vehicles and they control like ass and feel useless, and this is thanks to the Byron guy they hired from Activision who was lead producer on mw19 and mw2... BF6 also has an identity crisis between the factions being grounded or looking like yellow cans of spray paint.
2042 is at least honest with itself and costs 2.99 right now.

I got 1300 hrs into 2042 and over 500 into BF6 seriously 2042 is better the Scopes just the mechanics on how ADS works and looks hands the games not a dsync fest either...
its really sad people ignored 2042 and begged for a BF4 remake well here it is right down to the same type of small TDM style conquest and all... All these people who say BF4 is better i say why are you not playing that then? its clunky and the maps are the same small garbage
What they needed was to get back to BF2 style game play and maps literally just Remaster BF2 and BOOM amazing game

2042 is awesome. has clear graphics. yes it was shaky on launch and some maps are horrifyingly unbalanced but core gameplay loop is closer to actual battlefield game.
6 is Mostly infantry, Maps are way smaller, and there is absolutely no -ve spaces.
Maps like heavy Metal from Bad Company 2 can hold every base maps released in BF6

4's maps might be small garbage in your opinion, and you are entitled for it, but the maps on 2042 are huge garbage. What's the point to make a thousand meter wide combat zone if half of it is empty with little to no cover, and you limit the amount of vehicles the players can get so that 10-15 of them can get a ride, and the rest 15-22 or 45-50 are on foot? That's just bad map design.
It's a lot better now for sure, after they added more cover, but it isn't exactly great even so. The game has very poor gun physics, meaning you can snipe people with an smg from the other side of the map. If you spend most of your playtime in vehicles you have no right to claim the map design on 2042 would be better than let's say 4, because you have no clue what's it like to run for five minutes, die without seeing the enemy, and then run again for five minutes and die again because there is no cover for you.
