I installed the game, it starts, and opens profile creation page. put in info and click create, error comes up "Can't create profile. Please select your connection type. if you are unsure what to select, choose modem."

autoexec.cfg file does not seem to load, resolution defaults to 800 x 600
Any help would be much appreciated

Select one of the connection types I guess?

Mine used to start when they first put it on steam, now it loads to a grey screen and does nothing but ctrl alt delete back to desktop, probably windows updates borked it like return to wolfenstein...it'll never get fixed uninstall time or maybe you have a cd rom player like my 2013 pc has

That is likely driver update or GPU change
