So whats the use of re-releasing this on Steam if I have to manually install Punkbuster and manually apply certain community mods / patches to get it to work properly in w10 ?.....
Like if you aren't going to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ put in the effort to make this playable after running the install from Steam alone, don't be so cheap to try and get people on nostalgia.

Uhm... you know back then it was dropped completely free with no money or whatsoever asked in return?
Why would they even invest any kind of money into a remaster of a game that never once generated money for any publisher and never will?
It was complete community driven project from day one.
What do you want? Have them turn it into a f2p pay2win milk machine?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfenstein:_Enemy_Territory
Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a free and open-source multiplayer first-person shooter video game within the Wolfenstein series.[1][2] It was originally planned to be released as a commercial expansion pack to Return to Castle Wolfenstein and later as a standalone game. However, due to problems with the single-player aspect, the multiplayer portion was released on 29 May 2003 as a freeware standalone game.[3] In January 2004, the source code for the game logic (not the game engine) was released to the benefit of its modding community.[4]
The game uses a modified Return to Castle Wolfenstein engine, itself being a heavily modified id Tech 3 engine, which has been open source since 2005. As of the first day of the August 2010 QuakeCon, the entire source code was released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later.[5] The media assets remain proprietary.
A commercially released follow-up, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, was developed by Splash Damage.

If a publisher sells a game and it is not working correctly they are obligated to fix it and customers have every right to complain if it is not working.
But here Microsoft gave this old gem of a game, a project Activision abandoned, the exposure it deserves and no one has to pay anything for it. No one ever did. No one ever will.
They gain not one cent and owe you absolutely nothing.
If you don't like it, delete it and move on.

And the developers give 0 ♥♥♥♥♥ whether you will play this game or not.
If you want games that play themselves for you, seek modern releases like the latest COD games, seems like it's the viable option for someone like you.
There are many old games that were released during pre-Steam times but got added onto the store eventually and guess what, those games require patches and mods too because trying to fix them would just rob people of the original INTENDED experience.
This whole game is community-run as well, there are no official servers.
The patch is also literally just a drag & drop installation..
