The smarter ai is nice for combat, but trying to sneak is way harder. Really evident when first leaving the basement in the village; you get spotted almost instantly.

I never changed their awareness. It is on par with vanilla.

Are you sure? I'm not trying to say you're wrong, but i've noticed a few instances where their ai can be way too perceptive/ aggressive. One big example is the Super Soldat boss fight; the scientists get aggro and start shooting you mid fight from the second floor. (I'm almost positive it's not supposed to be like that)

No, that's actually pretty normal. Enemies in this game only have perceptive awareness when it comes to stealth missions. Where if they think they saw you, they might say "Is someone there?" But if you're already in a fight (ESPECIALLY a Boss fight), then enemies will be at full aggro and will immediately attack you. Stealth only really works when you're not detected at all. Which is why missions like the Forest and Paderborn require being sneaky 100% because the enemies almost have a "hive mind" in terms of knowing that there's an intruder if even one enemy was able to fire off a shot or become aggro before you could kill them.
