The cheats for the original don't work. Is there a way to get them to work for RealTCW?

You can only use cheats if you load a map with the /spdevmap command in the console. Example: /spdevmap escape1 loads the first map, then you can use the cheats.

Ok I use spdevmap escape1 to start a new game. Yes, cheats work. Nowadays I like to replay this game and many others with cheats enabled to occasionally noclip around for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles.
I start playing my game and oops, I need to quicksave and exit the game for work / errands / etc. I go quickload my savegame the next day and cheats are disabled. So is loading a new level from scratch using spdevmap the
ONLY
way to use cheats in RealRTCW?
