I finished quake 1 recently and I want to try out mods I know this game has a rich modding history I mean half life is pretty much just one big quake mod but I can’t find I definitive way to download mods

Most mods come in the form of a map pack. The places most packed with them are quaddicted.com and slipseer.com .

Quaddicted has many of the most iconic Quake mods like Zerstörer, Quoth, Beyond Belief, etc. Most of the mods and maps will tell you how to install them in the included text file.

The simplest way is to download Ironwail, copy the id1 folder from your Quake install and downloaded mod folders into your Ironwail folder, and launch using Ironwail's mod menu. VKQuake also works.

Slipseer for new releases (I recommend Dwell), Quaddicted for old releases (I recommend Beyond Belief, you need to make an account to filter maps), Arcane Dimensions is on Moddb.

Easy.

Step 1.
Find mods.

Step 2.
Click download on mods you want.

Step 3.
Install said downloaded mods.

Step 4.
???.

Step 5.
Profit.
